random but i see alot of high end off road chassis use 2 brake and/or 2 steering servos?

how are these set up? do you just buy any 2.4hz 3ch reciver and transmitter and set the channels on the reciver to run dual for steering/brake? im new to all this and i have not raced cars for many years (last unit i has was the old acoms techniplus from the mid 90's lol!)

any help would be appriciated, not looking to spend alot really (but like the sound of 2.4hz compared to using crystals etc )

Cheers

theres alot of linkage setup to do inmost cases. a dual servo setup that is combined needs to be properly and very well planned. you don't want the servos fightting each other for control, but to work together, which is where the finite setup come into play.

some rigs have 2 t/b servos, but one opperates the throtle and say the rear disc brakes and a 2nd servo runs the other brakes. some setup with one servo for throtle only, while the 2nd does brakes only.

many different setups to use. just depends on how you want things to work.

to do some of this, your best to use a radio that has channel mixing capabilties, as this make the overall radio and use setup easier to accomplish.

The MCD line has 2 steering servos. That car is so smooth when you turn it. It's a heavy car and needs those 2 servos. One time, my servo horn fell from one of them and i started noticing the difference right away.

i see.

the car im looking at getting already has one high end steering servo and dual servos for the brakes. one for the front disk brakes and one for the throttle/rear brake. all are uprated units. its complete bar a transmitter but i was thinking of getting and most are 3channel.

Good idea on the 3rd channel. From what you are describing, it sounds like an FG or some rendition on that car. It sounds like a good clean setup.

your going to want a good 3chnl radio with channel mixing capabilities. 3PM or KoProPos should do well here.

hmmm would this do the job guys?

i have read the pdf instructions BUT it does not say if i can set the aux/3rd channel into a second brake/steering servo.?? is anyone running this kit on here?

it says it has a built in fail safe (loss of signal i can set it to go full brake so it will jsut come to a halt on idle i hope lol)

the only other system i can see is the spectrum and that manual says i can deffinatly use the third/aux channel as either an extra steering/brake servo??

i jsut brought a HARM bx2 buggy, it has lots for up to 2 brake and 2 steering servos. happy just to run it on 3 (1 brake, 1 brake/gas and one steering atm) and maybe fork out alot for another steering servo and a much much better 4ch system later on in the year (can afford it atm)

thanks

Am I missing something? :helpsmilie:
I'm converting my FG MT to twin servo Rhino steering, but now find the space very limited for the throttle / rear brake servo - both are actuated from opposite sides so I need the 'double sided' servo arm.
What I see with the 'competition chassis' is an angled installation, which would not permit much space for the the rear brake anyway.
The alloy radio plate supplied by Hobbythek has the servos all in-line.

What I'm planning is to use multiple servo mount plates - 3 - and raise the throttle brake servo arm just above the Rhinos as it would have caught one side of one of them.

Does anyone have any other ideas as obviously I need the full throw for the throttle - the side conflicting with the Rhino? :(

Hi Trebor.
Thanks for that.
I'll see how I get on. I do reckon I need the extra space with the plate that Hobbythek provided, so I'll try raising the throttle / rear brake servo with the mount plates.
I need a reasonable amount of 'throw' on the throttle servo. Rear brake doesn't really need that much, as it only moves 1cm or so, trying to flatten the tubing!!
It will also mean, if it's possible, that the rods are more level.
Alan.
