    make yer own tyres!!!!

I have a Firehammer and wonder if the Baja paddle tires could be used to retread some old Firehammer tires? What do you guys think? BTW - I went to Wal-Mart and saw some great bicycle tire options for $10 - $15.

    make yer own tyres!!!!

I'm going to try this soon. I have an extra set of Firehammer buggy wheels that are getting pretty worn. I have been wanting some tires that would work better on the street. Running these stud tires on asphalt is like driving on ice.

    monster tyres

There was another thread on RCU where a guy put Baja rear tires on a lathe and ground down the tire surface to a slick. He cut the sand paddles off of some ProLine tires for a T-Maxx and glued them with CA glue to the surface. Don't know how those held up over time but his initial videos were...

    monster tyres

There was a recent thread where a guy cut down a mountain bike tire, removing the side wall and cemented it onto the foam. Then he used thin wire wrapped and tied around tire in between treads to keep it secure. He reported that he got great traction and it was dirt cheap to make.

    Cleaning wheel bearings

I pulled the rubber shields off by prying a little with a sharp tool. I screwed up two bearings by taking them completely apart. Now I can't get them back together. Luckily it's only two bearings. Now I know that's not a real smart idea.

    Cleaning wheel bearings

I decided to take apart a couple of front wheel bearings to see if I could clean and relube them. These bearings have the rubber shields. The disassembly went good and I cleaned all the parts. What is the best lubricant to use when putting them back together? I have graphite and heavy grease...

    J&A Racing T3 Mamaba Buggy

RCNut's has T3s for $1500 with a Zen G260. Looks like a nice buggy. The only thing I have heard is that it doesn't handle as well as other all-alloy buggies. If you're just bashing with it then comparative handling may be completely irrelevant.

    HPI Baja 5b Tuned Pipe

Don't you just love Tower Hobbies 'Early June' status. Sometimes you can count on that time. There are some Firehammer alloy parts that have had the 'Early <next month>' status for 2 years!

The 805BB has been praised by a lot of FG guys on the forum. It has also held up well on my Firehammer. Maybe the Baja transmits more impacts to the servo. The Multiplex Rhino digi 4 is a strong servo but it will set you back over $100.

    HPI Baja 5b Tuned Pipe

Another thing that struck me about that pipe is the 'list' price of $139. That undercuts DDM and JetPro by $30 and it hasn't even been discounted yet by a retailer. It is aluminum so it may not be as rugged as the DDM or JetPro but since it is protected in the rollcage it may not have to be...

    HPI Baja 5B SS!

I could imagine buying a screw kit immediately from HexCrews before assembling. That way you get the hardest fasteners around and you will have more confidence they are cranked down and lock-tighted the way you want.

    Duratrax and Customer Service

My Firehammer buggy came with a Futaba 1/4 scale servo. It was about $50 at Tower Hobbies. Specs says it had 165 oz-in of torque. I wanted something with more umph so I got the Hitec 805BB for $40 and it is 303 oz-in of torque. You can definitely see the difference. Maybe the MT is using a...

    HPI Baja 5b Tuned Pipe

It's cool that it is an 'in-board' pipe so that it can't get banged up in a rollover crash.

    Elcon making Baja parts now

Looks like Elcon is now in the Baja parts business with some rear upper arms: http://www.elcon-models.com/?q=taxonomy/view/or/37,38,39

    Pull start problems

Hey MarderBeet, go to Lowe's, Home Depot or any hardware store and buy some 'utility rope' that is about the same thickness or a little smaller. I got 25 feet for a few dollars. I tried to fix my ps a while back and the torsion spring that recoils the rope came unhooked from the tabs. I ended...

    Engine runs but won't idle

I was about to clean my carb when I decided to try and crank it one last time. It started up as if nothing had gone wrong! The last thing I did was empty out the cylinder and leave the plug out for several days to let the fuel evaporate. I suppose I was having some carb blockage problem...

    Your Workshop

Until a few months ago I had to work in any empty parking lot I could find. I did all kinds of repairs out of the trunk of my car. I even replaced a head gasket and piston ring. Now we have a garage where I can use my work bench but I still keep all my RC stuff in the trunk of my car. Old...

Mounting the New Bright Hummer Body

Was it $25 for the mounting parts only? Did you have to pay $100 for the 'donor' car? My son has a cool plastic dump truck (named 'Mr. Truck') that is a great size for my Firehammer. I am waiting for the day that Mr. Truck is 'for babies' and I can hack away at it. I guess I could just go buy...

    Engine runs but won't idle

Cool! That is the kind of 'words of wisdom' I was looking for. So if I take off the plastic plate on top that holds the primer bulb, the cover on the bottom, both diaphrams and the H and L screws, is it ready for a carb cleaner bath? Should I pull off the throttle assembly or can I just leave...
