They holding up well? Shift like they should? Im really thinking about getting a KM baja 30.5 with the 2 sp and just want some input. Thanks guys.

like crap, sorry but mine constantly slips, i could be in a good run and have to slow to turn and when i go to speed up,slip heaven all the engine does is wind up, im pulling to put a single speed, just waiting on spur gears to come in,
maybe some others had better experiences with them, but i have'nt

tank 10 here no issues seems to be shifting strong for me, I did have to adjust the shift point a bit at first but since then everything has been great fingers crossed. Keep in mind I pop my gears off every few tanks and clean up the OWB and reoil. allot of clutch dust makes its way in there.

A great suggestion Thanks.

no issues with mine either. i too, had to readjust the shift point after a couple tanks, but pad wear is good, still lots of life there yet, i have the 8k spring that came on mine, most single gear ones use a 6k, but thats just one gear, most use the 8k spring for a 2 speed.

Wonder how much better I would like the 2 speed over one? I see both available, although most are listed with 2 speeds now...

yah looks like debris got inbetween there and gouged it a lil bit. mine has a scrape on it too, but more evenly like it should than in your pic. you run it in loose sand or dirt? by looking at it, seems as though front cover is doin its job, but somehow, maybe thru backplate hole, possibly not sealed, debris is getting in, bouncing round to front sucking in between clutch and bell.

one other thing i did on mine was i completely unscrewed the clutch halves, lubed the screws and springs up, and clutch now works alot smoother now than before. and a big trick to getting both screws set right is make sure they are even, if ones a lil tighter than one side, that side wont open and grab the bell, while other side does. alot of 2 speeds from factory arent set evenly, mine wasnt.

i also have the 1 piece backplate with theaxle shaft bearing made into backplate, and the one piece brake assembly on top that, which takes away that lil plastic piece behind the top of 2 speed, less chances of anything goin in from behind, only 1 hole and it gets plugged with a rubber plug

I believe that happened this last trip to the track because she was caked with mud and I lost the little plastic gate behind the gears but easy enough to make another. as far 2 sp vs single Lloyd you are talking the difference between 40mph top speed and 55+, also from what I have seen side by side it out accelerates a single speed.

Oh really? I had no idea there was actually a top speed difference...guess Ive not read enough lol. That makes the 2 speed a winner in my book. Thanks for all the info guys...

Where is the adjustment for shift points? Did you find that the truck shifts too quickly into second gear? Seems that way to me just from my initial break in.

There are two screws on the outside of the 2 speed(silver part) make sure to tighten or loosen them equally but looser=shift sooner tighter=later, 1/4 turn increments until you are happy. btw you can adjust it without removing the gear as there is a small window to put the allen wrench through.

So you're saying if I loosen first gear a 1/4 turn, I need to tighten 2nd gear a 1/4 turn or vice versa?

on the2 speed bell housing there are 2 openings opposite each other as you turn the silver clutch part the bolt heads will line up with those 2 openings, THEN, you use the allen to adjust the bolts.

and also, Syphon, if you lost the plastic piece, thats exactly where the crap got in worked around and got in there to gouge it up. if you but that 1 piece top brake pice, it replaces that plastic part, the part is alloy, and fills that gap in place of the plastic one, youll never get anything more in there again.

haven't had chance to vehicle follow mine on a road yet, but, im sure since i know its still acceleratin when i have to shut it down to turn around, that if given a long nuff run to let max speed out, prolly pushes 55 to 60 mph. 35 pounds flyin at that speed can be like a missile, so good brakes like D's brake pads, and the killer Bee is a must have

I haven't had any problems with my 2 speed yet either. Just today I finished breaking in my Zanoah, and spent the next hour (about a tank and a half) running the life out of it. Jumps, speed runs, grass, dirt, and a large parking lot. Not a hiccup. I was running 5B tires/wheels because I have lots of them and would prefer to save the bigger truck tires from pavement wear. So because of that, it was shifting a little early, but wasn't a problem. I ran it so long I completely killed the rear pair of 5B tires.

On a side note, the Zanoah with the 2 speed is an angry combination. Loads of fun.

I have 1 also and the first day I had it, it seized up on me an the 1 way bearing was gone, plus the gear didn't change. Took it back to the shop and got it replaced. Running smooth now but it still hasn't changed gear since I've had it back so I've left it how it is because the screws in the last 2 sp were rounded off as they come. I know it has to be loosen but I don't get by how much, it looks pretty loose because it has a gap I the clutch already so I'm pretty confused......... please help I've only had it a week

well only way to adjust it is with those allen bolts in silver clutch, if you cant use a allen to move them, youll have to replace them, use a easy out to remove those 2 bolts, and go to hardware store and get ya 2 replacement allens same size and thread, and make sure theyre hardened bolts only way your gonna be able to adjust that shift point

Other than the one way bearing, the 2 speed is a really simple device. If it's functioning incorrectly it's easy to adjust and/or take apart to clean or replace.

One way bearing problems, that's something else. The bearing itself will need to be replaced, but other than the $35 the bearing costs, that's a really easy thing to do as well. I've been meaning to pick up an extra bearing just in case mine starts acting up.
