I'm in the market for a 29cc engine that fits an FG MT5 without any mod. I need a direct replacement of the stock 26cc.

Any advise please?

Thanks.

the clutch casing will need to be slightly modded or just pull the one of the stock engine. and most likely the linkage arm on the carb will need to be swaped with the stock one thats it. btw don't get the 29cc with the 35mm bore the plating comes of bad.

u will need to modify all the clutch casing unless u buy one from fg. it a simple mod with a dremel. 1 corner of the case hits on the motor mount and a little needs to come off. u will see what im talking about when u remove the motor. all the zenoah motor have the best plating of the motors that will work. the reason they cost more is quality. they are not chinese made like all the cy motors. that motor above is just a 4 bolt version of your motor. assuming that your fg was not one of the few that came with a cy motor.

todd217, thanks so much for helping. So where (which vendor) can I buy the new Zenoah 27 in. from FG? All these engines are advertised as the engine for FG MT and from this forum I find out that they all require some mods done. I'm a bit afraid of making any mod since I haven't seen it done before.

Can you provide a site where I can buy the FG MT ready engines?

Many thanks,

hellya and all:

I can feel the love from this forum, lots of info for a newbie with little or no hands on experience with engines. Is there any tutorial with pictures on the rebuild process? If not, I'll take hellya's offer for the "walk through" while I do it.

To pick one, I love the anodized spiral head shell of the CY kit, although I think I'll probably go with the Zen's authentic kit since mine is a Zen engine. That being said, whichever hellya has experience with, I'll go with that.

hey

Remember...............with 28.5 cc BB kit you will have greater torque(bottom end)
with a 27.2,you will have more revs (top end)....

u will sacrifice something...

For the G270RC 3.0 HP Engine, which one is the right carb for the FG MT5?

av522-WT-813carb(R/C)
bc260-603carb(R/C)

the main reason to go with the 27.2 over the 28.5 is plating. the 28.5 platings is a lot better than the 29cc but still not as good as the zenoah. i have had 2 28.5 and i like them a lot good torque and topend. i think they have better torque than the 27.2 but my 27.2 is in my baja and my 28.5 is in my trophy truck so its hard to compare. just make sure if u get the 28.5 get the one for the 38mm boss the 40 will not fit your case.
