2speed tranny? worth the $$$

Gives you more bottom end acceleration with more top end speed...if you run 46/18 single sp that's all you got but with 2sp you can go 46/18 44/20 more top end or go 48/16 44/20 more low and top end...best of both with no compromise..also there are about 15 different gear combos you can use.
2 speed you can buy as the kit..includes the gears, alloy hubs and shift clutch, layshaft and clutch bell which are longer for the 2 gears.
Then you really should get alloy gear plate, engine mounts and upper arms if you don't have em already (all fgs need these upgrades out the box if they come with plastic)

if you want a deal then keep checking ebay.co.uk they come up often and most sellers will ship to US/ Canada if you ask them...other than that all fg suppliers over here are about the same price $225ish + then you'll need to re gear as the offroad set it comes with are 44 and 42 spur (ok for marder size tires only) and the onroad is 42 40 spur. then you'll want steel pinions...better to check ebay I'd say. 2 speed is the way to go though, i love mine...

In the middle of sticking a 2-speed on my MT, but with the 46/44 gearing the 1st gear pinion doesn't go on the clutch bell far enough, so I can't get the circlip on...the small steel pinion isn't milled out like the larger one.

I have the lower 42/40 setup on my MacF1 and this is fine as the larger pinions are milled out.

Anyone else have this issue, I'm thinking of milling the pinion down to give me a little more clearance....

Sounds to me like you are trying to use the stock clutch bell. I have used 2 full size pinions before on the longer 2 speed shaft without a problem. The stock shaft is quite a bit shorter. Maybe that is it?

Mmm, I'm using the clutch bell that came with the 2-speed unit, but I'll whip it off again and size it up to the stock one to be sure. :) It's only short by 1-2mm though.

mines the same about 1mm out, there's a wide and narrow 16t gear, the circlip fits with the skinny one but you have to shim the spurs and shift clutch to line the narrow gear to middle of the spur...I have both but use the wide one and leave off the clip..just blue loctite the grubs down tight...no problems as yet with the gear coming off.

I've shaved the gears down slightly so can squeeze the circlip on now. :)

Unfortunately when the gear does manage to come off you will probably lose it....
