30 DNT or King Motor Baja buggy

Okay I’m new to the 1/5 RC but not to RC as I own several 1/8 nitros. Looking to buy my first gas large scale and not sure what to get. I can not afford the LOSI 5T $1400 but can afford the 30 DNT SCT for $1000 or the King Motor Baja buggy for $600. There is a lot of part support for the buggy from what I see. The king motor buggy looks great with plenty of aluminum and is a great price but don’t like the way they jump or maybe there is some kind of learning curve there. I don’t plan on racing other than with my buddies. I think most will say the 30DNT but want to hear why. Please have owned one of the two before commenting Thanks.

The km Bajas are hit or miss, some good and some poop. Out of the two, 30dnt seems like a better option. Personally though,I would look for a used losi 5t first, they can be had in good condition for about what the 30dnt will cost new.
Yeah I haven’t found one in good shape I’m willing to pay that kind of money for. The Baja just looks fun as it would be hard to drive. I enjoy the difficulty driving the 2wd’s because it tends to make me a better driver.

Well your right, the baja is a challenge and totally a blast to drive. I own a hpi baja (that's alot less the stock lol), and it is pretty hard to keep straight and what not, and it keeps me coming back for more. Just be prepared to upgrade stuff, the other is more a gas and go, the baja will need work more often.

I have both, as told you on Facebook.
I think you need the Losi5T or the 30DNT to get you started, then maybe a Baja later down the line to add to the fleet.
Have a search of my posts to gauge reliability of the KM Baja and the 30DNT.

I have a racing 2wd SCT that I drive on the outdoor track and just love it because it’s so hard to drive but like you said I tend to drive that more than my 4wd nitros. I have hear some people who own 1/5 4wd get bored with them and buy the 2wd...

That's like comparing apples and oranges. 30 dnt sct all day long.

Everyone here knows my opinion about clone cars. The best thing about the 30dnt is the body as we with losi 5ive t's have the bodies.

The 4 to 500 your worried about will eventually be soaked up into the clone vehicle. I can't say I know alot about the 30dnt truck but I know a few guys here have it. See what they have to say about it and if its good then go for it.

5th scale is not a cheap hobby at all just remember that as you go along with whatever rig you purchase.

If you want something out of control go for the BAJA 2WD . Mines 2wd and absolutely mental . 4WD can be mental but they are a lot easier to control.

the 30DNT looks like a clone of the Losi to be honest . I was just watching a video a few minutes ago.
I could be wrong.

Yes both of my nitros are over $1800 each and maintaining them is expensive but it’s a hobby and is what keeps my interest high. I hear good things about the DNT.

Yes I think the DNT is a clone from what I understand. The 4wd are nice obviously because they are point and shoot and are predictable. The 2wd is much more fun to drive in my opinion. I seem to drive my 2wd SCT more than my 4wd. The jumping of the Baja concerns me because Every time I see somebody jump them they nose dive. Maybe they don’t know how to drive them correctly or feather the throttle.

i'd say 30dnt as well mate,
if yer worried about getting bored with 4wd you could always fit a centre locker in the 30dnt and pull the front drive,
that way you can swap between 2wd and 4wd (y),
or scratch build a hybrid (y):D
That’s a good idea about taking out the front drive 🤙.
