I could use some advice before I break the brakes apart. My braking is very weak. I modded them by using fuel tubing but they still won't hold the car when i roll it on the floor. I can push the truck with full brakes without too much effort. Is this normal? How much lock up should I expect with proper brakes?

As said above, hpi brakes are garbage. Sometimes you can improve them by adjusting the brakes but not always.

Looks like a new servo is in order. I am running an 8 year old 3000mah pack that I brought back to life when I got the truck out of storage it holds a good charge but I have a new NIMH 5000mah pack on the way. I'll try it first before I fully commit to a new servo. At full brake I am not really crushing the fuel tubing much. Its been a long time since I ran the truck but I don't remember the braking being this weak. I assumed I could at least lock up the rears and have trouble rolling it on the floor. Kinda annoyed by I purposely avoided a new lipo pack to not stress the servos and if I am replacing one I should have just gone ahead and bought lipo.

Probably not too much room ,but on some of my RC's ,I had good results with a longer servo horn ,as it seem to
have a stronger leverage for the brake!

Well I pulled the old battery and I am glad I did. It looked awful and the foam around it was totally melted/disintegrating. It could have been a major problem. I went ahead and reset my brakes again and tightened up the top bolts a bit. The new battery is slightly better but I still seem to bottom out on the servo power when hitting full brake. I get a very slight crush of the fuel tubing but thats it. I checked my servo travel again and at 150% I am putting all of it into the braking. So I ended up ordering a new Hitech 5645MG. For as little as I get to drive this thing thats prob all I need for now. I hesitated not going ahead and buying a HV servo in case I upgrade later but realistically it wasn't worth it for me at the moment.

While I was at it I remounted my KillerRC buzzer outside of the HPI radio box and I installed kill switch LED's in the top cover of both my HPI and Losi. I can't hear the buzzer and last week I spent 2-3 minutes trying to start my truck with the kill switch on before my daughter asked me what that loud buzzing was.

I'll say this though. Every time I wrench on my HPI I appreciate the Losi more. Access is just so much easier on that truck than the HPI.

DDM has the D845 wp on sale today.....jus sayin?
Not a bad deal. I feel guilty though. I already dumped a lot of cash getting my 2 trucks running again out of storage plus I bought the kids WLtoys buggies and myself a brushless losi mini-t and plenty of extras. I’ll just keep running the old one till is craps out. I barely ran the HPI before I stored it so I was surprised the throttle servo got so weak not being used.
