I was going to buy the 5sc ss kit and when I saw the price, I bought the 5sc rtr and have torn it down to rebuild and upgrade. I bought a new futaba 4pks radio and killer rc kill switch. The truck was complete with no missing parts, but I still check behind Qc.:)

this sucks

I thought I got my missing parts, Tonight I opened the package and all I got was the rear brace and a packing slip saying that the parts tree is back ordered. I have emailed hpi again to get this sorted but still no response. This is absolutely the worst rc experience I have had. Obviously this will be my last hpi. At least if this thing was complete I could sell it.

I cannot get a reply from hpi, can I sell this thing with my receipt ant the next poor soul can try to get the parts warrentied. I don't wanna even use this thing now in case something breaks.

Thanks guys had to vent. I am pissed. If it wasnt for paint being done and parts being died I would try to return to the store I bought it from. I know its not their fault but mabye they could get me a complete rc that I could actually use.

You are allowed your vent. I would be right there with you.
Have you tried calling HPI and talking to customer service. They are supposed to have a great customer service department from what everyone says. I had no issues with them on my Baja issues. Let them know your frustration and that you expect a rebate or an upgraded part for your wait...

The parts could take forever depending on how many kits/boxes lack them. Obviously, there are a few if they ran out of parts for them. Heck, how many people are just going to say they don't have the parts to get extras? Its a big oops IMO.

I've built a few 5B SS kits in the past and never had missing parts, so I'm sorry to hear about your frustration. The same held true for the 1/12, 1/10, and 1/8 HPI kits I had built. In my experience HPI's quality control has been about on par with other companies, but their innovation is top notch. Hopefully you'll get this resolved because the 5 series is a really fantastic platform to run and enjoy. Maybe HPI rushed this kit to the market or changed part something in their processing facility. Good luck!

Still no response to my emails so I phoned and spoke with a human.
I told them how pissed I was and to give me extra stuff. They are gonna give me a t shirt. whooptee doo. This is pathetic. I was told the parts will now be another 5 buisness days to arrive. Which means no running again this weekend. I wonder if all the parts will be in the box this time?

NO its been a month and 10 days. I don't care anymore I am beyond being pissed. Anyone else wanna screw me around?

I put a 5b ss kit together a few months ago that was missing parts too. but none were not anything to keep it from running. I didn't even bother to call in.plus I had some of the screws I needed from a clone truck I had that were the same exact thing. hhmm go figure.

I budgeted $2000 for this truck. I spent $1960 for the kit and some hop ups.. I didn"t have the extra $100 the hobbyshop wanted for the parts hpi lists for approx $30.

Having never run a vehicle of this size I wasnt sure if the parts were needed to run. My opinion was that a chassis brace could be important should I start cartwheeling. The front bumper probly should not be dragging on the ground either (the brace is on the body mount tree that was missing). I didnt wanna run with no bumper because of the cost of this thing and my extremely high driving skill level. lol

I never thought it would have taken this long to get the parts. I don't think I was unreasonable. I still think hpi screwed up bad... I just bought a fisher price rc for my nephew and it came with all the parts included and was alot cheaper. Only downside is its for indoor use only and has a very short cord. Range is aprox 5 feet of cord. I would still recomend the fisher price model from toys r us over the baja experience.

lol I am with you on that ,they have been make these toys long enuff now to have a little quality control.I agree it is not too much to ask when the consumer is buying a high end toy.Just my 2 cents an what ever the exchange rate is these days on the pound.haha

I have received everything that was missing now. As long as your not in a hurry its a nice looking kit once you have all the pieces. I Think I was an exception because most people got their parts in 5 days as told by hpi. It took them over a month to get me my parts, but they gave me a free tshirt. Also not all kits are missing pieces unfortunatly i have seen others missing more than i was. hpi screwed up in my opinion.

got more parts.

The back ordered body mount set just arrived in the mail yesterday. They did send them to me already (apr 22) but now I have an extra set. Finally done dealing with hpi now. I bought this truck on march 10th. Not a pleasant deal at all. (I think your friend A$$head might work at hpi) lol. I do really like this truck now, its running problem free for 6 tanks so far.
