a lil bit of info. the 62cc will top out around 16,000 rpm. So any GOOD built 23 will get more topspeed. atleast untill they get taller gearing for them.

they are torque monsters with 3plus ft/lbs of turque on a stock motor, but a stock motor only revs to 14,000 give or take.

imho, even once gearing is done, a goood TS 30.5 reed case motor will beat most any 62. form off the line to the finish line.

they are thowing it in that vid due to the piss poor lowend it had. it wouldnt get going under its own, so it had to be launched so it would get moving (to me a sign the porting needs alot of imporvments).

its a great project, but just that only a project imo. for 1500.00 i ll build a full Zen 4bolt TS 30.5, install a VRC BB or JP Gargantuan and whoop some 62s

it's all about power to weight ratio and torque/power curves, the engine CC iand configuration that you cchoose s realy just a byproduct (just look at the old F1 cars that had 1000hp from a 1500cc turbo)

From a reliability viewpoint, i'd rather have a common or garden lightweight 23/26/29 cc and a decent tuned pipe instead of a 60cc monster

They launch these things like a boat and never line up for a race with another Baja.

I love seeing the next big thing but it seems to be a little sleight of hand going on, I was told by a person who attended Dunetoberfest that a well prepped Baja could easily outrun a 60 because the 60s run out of steam due to low rpm and gearing and that was when someone from KRD chimed in with this:

You were told by someone that was running a smaller engine and couldn't admit that they were outmatched. People are going to go back and forth about what happened at Dunetoberfest. Really I don't care one way or another, it's old news lets move on. A well prepped 26-30.5 is going to run like a raped ape, no doubt about it. I have half a dozen and I love them. I'm sure I could shoot a video tomorrow of a bone stock 62 against a fully done up trevor 30.5 and that's still not going to be enough for a couple people. Over the next couple weeks we will do some speed runs for you guys and shoot some more video. After that you can decide for yourself or take others word for it. A 62cc is a different animal and needs to be treated as such. And one thing it needs is taller gears like what we are testing now. 22/52 is power on demand and wheelies for days but if guys want a ton of top speed the 28/46 is looking really good:gunsmilie: Your right bigger isn't always better but that new 7.0L Z06 looks pretty good to me!

I would love to see them really get this 60cc thing off the ground and I tip my hat to the guys taking one for the team and building these rigs, I just want them to keep it real and get that video of the 60 taking on a TS 30.5, win or lose it would shed a lot of light on this project.

YEAH!!! And that's why they call him Timmahh!!

thing is, once they have the clutch and taller gearing worked out, its a completely different ball game. i would like to see a better motor choice (or atleast topend). but add taller gearing, and the option of using a Elcon or Lauterbacher aftermarket clutch onit, and its a different critter all together.

I totally agree, ... and I don't !!
For more than twice the capacity of a 'normal' tuned chain saw, it's only putting out the same power - about 5hp.

I suppose once there's MORE interest and of course it's more interesting to 'the layman', i.e. price, and thus increases in popularity (sales) then they will start tuning them.
THIS is when it will be interesting.

I've heard some people are still not interested, but are fabricating twin cylinder Zenoahs - THAT'S INTERESTING!!
Same capacity, 2 cylinders, and nearly twice the power!!!!
Perhaps some of you may have more information?
