It's funny thinking about it now, when I started out seeing guys with 1/5 scale all they had was bajas, raved about not having to tune an engine all day but cried when they broke after a hill climb. Biggest reason I never got into 1/5 scale sooner then I did. The first losi I saw was awesome but gutless. Funny bit is how things have progressed, now you can build A baja to take about anything of you have deep enough pockets and losi is actually fast. Good times eh ?

how long have 1/5 scale been around ?

Idk, I've been in rc 20 odd years. There was an abandoned road called old state road with hill climbs we used to run at. There were 2 older (at the time) guys that ran bajas there. That was around the time I got my driver's license so 17 years ago or so. The one guy eventually got a 4x4 1/5 scale buggy, I now assume it was a 5ive b. I was still into nitro 1/8 scale so I never paid much attention to what it was, just it didnt fly apart every time he ran it. I'd hazard a guess they were around before that.

Not what I meant. I'm saying you've spent some ? on your rig this year after months and months of Jerry rigging it. Why all of a sudden are you buying the right parts? Did you get a job or an inheritance?
Idk, I just got sick of doing hack poop that didn't really work and didn't look good. Plus , I like shiny things ? so to me, splurging and making my rig look awesome and more durable is better than hacking it back together just to get 10 more mins of run time ? . And it's winter time, so I usually make more $$ winter time, which means more shiny thangs ?? and no, I didn't get a job or inheritance (unfortunately), I was just being really cheap
