I was looking at the 6th pic down... Do you have an air horn that plays the first 7 notes of "Dixie" like in the Dukes of Hazzard? That is such a cool truck!

I hope you know what I am talking about... The Dukes was a very popular TV series here in the states, back in the 80's

i rember the show as a kid but don't realy rember the air horn

well i could not help myself so the other day i installed the large and small alloy engine mounts and the alloy gear carrier. and today i installed the alloy rear end with alloy upper arms and the front alloy bulk heads and the alloy servo saver and some cat 5 steel gears, ive still got a heap of stuff to install and do, but ill do it bit by bit

that brought back some memories, i havnt seent aht show in 22 years about from the new move with that tard in it.

well i wasnt going to do any upgrades till around 20 25 tanks, and do a fg mt reveiw, but i busted one spur gear on the 12th full tank, and busted the second spur gear on the 14th tank, the spur gear was still working fine just missing teeth on one side, due to some bad jump landing and the rear top turn buckle hitting the spur gear so stuff it i aded the alloy rear end as in the above pics, and installed the ams stainless steel diff cover, to keeop the diff going untill my adjastable gets here.

i tell you that steel radio tay was the biggest pain in the ass for me, had to do some drilling and a few mods it works now, but im not realy happy with it, ive seen some nicer ones on flea bay.uk ill get one that way i can run twin steering servos like i planed to.

with the steel radio tray i had to cut of some of my hitec alloy servo horn, not to happy about that as ill looks some braking power, but its in now and working atlest there no flew in the radio tray when braking, so mabe they will counteract some of the missing alloy servo horn :-[

i liked the ams stainless diff cover nice and tight it will stop the diff gears speading, to my suprise after 14 tanks the gears where like brand new, thens been a few times i got it up on two wheels at full wot then the wheels come done and hit the dirt, ive thought bugger thats go to hurt the diff.

ive spent the day paying witht he adjustable camber front end, and when back to stock lols, the trucks ready to go just got to adjust the front tunbuckles and the rear then im off bashing agoing to test out the alloy bits, lets see how strong they are, but i will say the fg alloy isnice every thing lines up well and with the alloy rear end i can get way better gear msh on the layshaft gear and diff gear, it wasnt bad befor but now its smicko.

since the ams diff cover was so tight, i think it will help the diff a bit more and mabe slow down some of the unlaoding on one wheel, but i might be dreaming.

any way heres some more pic,s lols

looks like the ams stainless steel diff cover might of been to tight as the died died today looks like the gears scraped up some plastic from the houseing and it locked then the grunt sheared the diff in half, the g270rc hit some nice revs but no go...

i think if i didnt put the diff cover on as it was dam tight, the diff might not of locked full of plastic and might still be going.

no dramer i have an new fg alloy diff housing just got to swap it over.

any way here a some pictures good job im thought

I have stainless steel diff case and no issues so far. Not sure who made it though as I got mine 2nd hand but never used.

ive got a lsd comming but its taken for ever to get here migth be lost, but i got a new fg on so ill give that ago, but i noticed it did not come with distance disk or the rubber o rings bugger

I've been using badhorsie grease for a while and love it. I'm curious to hear your finding on the LSD.

ill let you know when i have a play, but i like the idea of it beeing adjustable so i can run it stock ritgh up to locked around 50% should be good for bashing

im going to change the layshaft gear to make it a little quicker and more user frindly on take off.

it did have grease in ther most of its on my engine and carb/airfilter, and i did clean it up a bit befor the pic,s

all four gears twisted iside the diff case....i thought the ams diff cover would help, but to be honest i think cause it was so tight, like i had to hammer it on, the gears cut into the plastic, the plastic got into the gears, the the diff got jammed (locked) and then that cause it to bust in half.

lucky the gears and drive cups are sweet still

Nasty..on the rear end....you will do better with the LSD diff....
I just have the Fg 8484 caseI stuffed my gears in with SS cover....
Your truck is looking good my friend.....Slawhammer...
