To be honest, there's more off road tracks here in the UK than on road. There's certainly more places to run an off road too.

Trying to find somewhere not to far away with flat enough pavement where you're not going to annoy someone is pretty tough. It's also hard finding someone local to run with. I follow a couple of guys on Instgram and they're a good couple of hours drive

I get just as much enjoyment from the building and upgrading as I do the driving though.

Yeah when I went 1/5 scale I wasnt able to run at a lot of places I normally would go. And I don't know of anyone around me that has 1/5. Well that lives close. But like you say, the build is half the fun?
 
Today i received some more upgrades in my recent parts acquisitions.

This weekend i have to fit:

Adjustable LSD
Alloy Rear Diff Risers
Alloy Rear Damper Mount
Magura Hydraulic Brakes f+r

Ive always wanted an on road with Hydraulic brakes... no idea why. I just think they`re cool :cool:
I bought some Magura ones in good shape which arrived today....

Boy this 465mm chassis is tight for space!
I must have spent an hour tonight while i stayed on in the office looking at the various permutations on where i could mount the reservoirs.
I only really have the two locations pictured where i can mount them so that they don't foul anything and still allow the servo to move the rods. I have a second servo in the post arriving tomorrow which will mount in the other space next to the receiver box. This will work the rear brakes. There is just enough clearance with the steering movement to have the mounting post sat in front of the radio tray but it sure is tight.

I`m hoping i can get the chassis drilled and them mounted this weekend. What i really need to find is the 465mm Comp chassis but they seem to be like Hens teeth...

The FG Big power pipe was far more straightforward to fit and sounds really nice.

I think im just the rear lower arms short now... oh and that chassis :rolleyes:

Just been browsing my Fg Catalogues...

I think I've found a solution. I believe that fuel tank was used on later 465mm models only mounted vertically using an F1 tank mount. That should give me a bit of space behind the radio tray. Not sure if it'll be enough but it's worth a try before I start drilling the chassis :unsure:
 
So brakes are in...

I'm still not 100% comfortable with the 'bodge' I've had to do to get them fitted. Maybe it's me being anal as I like everything spot on.

Does anyone know if there is adjustment in the calipers? The rears are very balanced, but the one side on the front is stronger than the other. Is there a way of changing the piston's start position?

Sorted.
Spent a couple more hours today on the Porsche.

I managed to find a thread on another forum where a guy had these brakes fitted to a swb with the comp chassis. It highlighted where to locate them.
I can't believe I didn't consider this location before- maybe it was due to the steering throw. Either way, they're in and working well.

I had to rotate the servos but that was no issue

As for the brakes, it seems the piston had been pushed back in too far and just needed to move out to compensate for the pad thickness

Yet to test drive, but I'm glad it's all in. Happier too that the fuel tank is sat back how it should be
