This one isn't a genuine HPI, but kind of a Franken buggy. I got the impression this had become more of a 5b pic thread in general, ill delete if not interested.....
Didn't get a picture with the dogbones( phatdad) installed, but this is one I built for someone the last couple of weeks. It started life as one of the "all metal" Rovans. I tore it apart, replace the clutch system, trans/front plate with turtle, phat dad cups/bones and all the braces, a gbe motor mount, hpi stock brakes, hostile one piece hubs. Now has an ESP 34cc with the victory big bore.
I have it mostly tuned for him, it's... quick, even for a tuck THIS heavy. Definitely not my usual style, but it turned out well. I was surprised these shocks seem.... actually decent.
Oh .... I really don't recommend buying on of these. You would be much better off starting with a clone in the 4-500 range and taking the extra grand to spend on good quality upgrades. Some of the KM/Rovan parts aren't bad, but I could have taken a rovan base roller, and had damn near the same looking car, with better options, for the money. Just my .02$, I'm not some baja god, just spent several days cursing this thing and anyone associated with it!
