baja diff drive shaft

hi gents.
I need some help or advice. I need to replace my diff drive shaft on both sides. I bought new 2 units but they do differ. the old units were threaded which hold the pin in place that the gear fits on. the new parts don't have thread cut in them. what do I do? are the new parts maybe machined different or is that screw not needed to lock the pin in place? thanks gents

Im ignorant on baja diffs. Is the grub screw needed? The pin wont stay in place within the gear?

On my rovan I never ran the screw, in my hpi I did. . I have no idea weather its entirely needed , because the rovan needed ran more then 2 rpm (my hand ?‍?), but I wouldn't want to risk it.

Losi doesn't use screws to keep the pins in. The spider gear should be adequate

Yeah that's what I'm thinking but maybe the baja spiders are diff or something.

Honestly if they weren't needed I don't think hpi would design it with the threaded holes. But then again, maybe it's just extra insurance ?‍

i do not see the reason of these bolts to secure the pin. once one of the bolts got loosen in my 5sc and the heads locked the diff.
you can shim the drive cup at the outer side of the case when there is an excessive play on it, so i think you can give a try to the Rovan cups if cannot be returned.
(my concern would be more on the missing hardening and fast wear..)

I think they'll be just fine... While we're on the subject of diffs. Are we supposed to use 2 gaskets or just 1?
