Bench test

I'm strictly looking for pros and cons...as I'm still waiting for my clutch bell to arrive.

What's stopping me from firing this motor up and letting it run a bit on my bench. I understand it's air cooled but just at an idle will it hurt anything?

DO NOT fire it up with exposed clutch shoes!

The flywheel is a fan that will run air over the engine. Every single break in video instructs you to idle the motor for 15 minutes prior to actually running the car.

I run my car on the bench every week.

I think you'll be fine.

Yeah, you can still run it on the bench, but take the clutch shoes off!

Yeah don't do it, you'll stretch the spring or it can pop out and hit some poop.

Ok, so I'll remove the clutch. Like it's going to be engine running on my bench...not in chassis. I don't see how it'll be an issue

Doesn't matter. Clutch exposed in bench or chassis, it will stretch .

Yes ,remove them first!

I got hit in the face with the spring ,it felt like I got kicked by a mule!..

No clutch, no problem. Run it and enjoy those awesome two stroke vapors.

Gotta see if I can secure it down first. But was just after the a ok go fire it up with the new top end that's all

Wasn't a bench, was in a Baja chassis, just not hooked up to the drive train

Clutch spring will only stretch if you rev it past the point of engagement, just idling would be fine.

After I re-gapped the coil to allow motor to actually turn over it fired right up on 3rd pull or so.
