Bought a fg 4wd sportsline 530mm new from Ddm last month. So far have ran about a tank through it. The first day the clutch spring popped off after a couple laps on a local diy track and then last weekend the mod killswitch wire dropped and got chewed up by the flywheel cutting my run short again after another half tank. Fixed up and ready to go again this weekend. So far the engine feels a bit flat. I think it’s overgeared from factory but I’m trying not to change or upgrade anything until the rig is reliable and I get a good grip on the handling and performance characteristics. It’s a fun little rig for parking lot and I’m sure this is a rig I will hold onto for a whileB8F063C7-E1D5-4CF8-87B5-3346451CF9F1.jpegDE6DAE0F-1C51-4319-B1B3-F210803E0D1A.jpeg

I've been wanting one of those for awhile Bobby, out of the box what would you suggest upgrading that it can do better or is it just gears for now?
It will depend on what you want to do. There is a 1/5 on road track near you that holds a points series race every month so that’s an option or a basher. As a basher it needs a much bigger engine. As a racer it seems like it just needs a different pinion spur combo. Maybe it will need some upgrade to help with ease of wrenching but it’s too early to tell. Maybe disc brakes. I haven’t really gotten into extended run times yet so I don’t know. Really I just need more time with the rig before I start fiddlesticking with it too much or giving out opinions because I have no idea what I’m talking about🤣🤣

The biggest you can go is a 30.5 and you’ll have an issue with the small engine mount not lining up.I ended up pulling out the dremel and shaving the mount. Also if it’s a reed engine you will have to set up a new linkage to the carb

Please keep us posted, I've been on the fence with the 530 4wd but not seeing enough real world review. would a zenoah g320 work, seems like a popular reliable strong engine?...
I think I can have a proper review of this car in about a month. I’m not sure about the engine I’ll probably be keeping some sort of 26 in it for as long as I own it

I’m not ready to review this car haven’t got much into it yet. I will say that it needs a very smooth area and the more grip on the surface the better. It takes a lot of control or tuning or both to get it going around corners at pace without the back sliding out. I just don’t really understand the car yet though

First off I fiddlesticking love this thing. Brought it to Wagner on Saturday for a proper rip and it didn’t disappoint. The 4wd touring class is by far the biggest here or at least it was this weekend. This car went out still basically stock. Ran a few laps in practice and immediately noticed how planted it was it feels right at home on a track. I qualified 7th out of about 13 cars and was only just under 2 second off the pace of the tops guys and I had pretty consistent lap times. In the main I started 7th and had a very quiet race. I was very consistent but not super fast and stayed out of trouble. The end result was a very satisfactory 4th place. I noticed that the car is very underpowered. So I am rectifying this with a obr delrin velocity stack, 1242 carb, tgn uni short stack, mielke steel tornado pipe and gearing down 1 tooth. The body also got hammered but fiddlestick are they expensive to replace. The plan is to buy a replacement lexan bumper only and foam inner bumper. Other than that it will stay as is but I am thinking of new servos also sooner rather than later but who knows🤷‍♂️ A321081E-8D57-4727-9167-5EA5923CD1C4.jpeg5AAE6CC6-D17C-4E13-ACAF-C61D18440EE9.jpeg9B6182B4-7BCA-4D40-B486-53F24341BA93.jpeg9C2CD7FE-FB29-4C6F-A331-BDDA76034F4F.jpeg65746880-5C2C-4DEA-B99F-EE6936B6ECE8.jpeg6BE2E370-D888-4FF1-891A-85673BCDBDEA.jpeg100C157E-B5DE-44BB-A8EC-E1034A7A4F89.jpeg

Bobby if I can help you, the mielke steel tornado pipe is a proper c rag to deal with. The stinger on mine hit the body support and I had to cut the pipe and weld it clocked in another direction, if suggest a samba or just something else, also the pipe itself works with 2wd and 4wd and the only difference is the header. Be cautious when you order and make sure that you confirm its for a 4wd as the descriptions are severely lacking any proper description.

Awesome thanks I’ll look into the samba 8. It’s annoying trying to buy anything for this car. They have 100 different versions of the same car and everything’s the same but slightly different🤣
