For me it's not the case of being flash, it's about having spares if the car needs anythings or if people at the meeting with the same car, needs anything. At most meetings you'll find trackside support with spares for some cars and not for others.
Some people call it cheque book racing when you have the best of everything, that bollocks, most of that is just jealousy, it's just about being prepared. If I was a non team driver I wouldn't have half of the spares I carry but I would still have the essentials like shock shafts, rod ends, bearings, screw packs, other bits of fitting hardware, bushes, wishbone pins and one of each wishbone and a set of bulkheads.

This year I've only broken a diff carrier and 1 shock shaft, I've replaced a few bushes and bearings but thats about it. I've never broken one of the marder style alloy wishbones or had issues using alloy or steel rod ends.

Nobody I know has a "qualifying engine" or spare test car. I know people who do own more than one car but it may just be from the previous year.
 
Mike and renbar please don't think im calling anyone more fun mates.......like you mike i have spares for me or who asks for help,even my nearest rivel,to me is all about cars on track............ As for engines we can only have 23cc mod or standard 26cc....the day i start cheating in that may its the day i stop racing..............yes there are odd guys that do it.....but only time tells before they found out....................
 
its a different world,for us as bashers we spend money on every bit of crap that shines,or adds power instead of thinking about buying things that haven't broken yet and may never brake,,,then most end up on a shelf never to be used as intended because its a work of art and there to scared to bash it and fair play id love a shelfer a nce fg f1 comp,,,,but for me i want to use mine then put on the shelf.but large scale racing is growing and theres more clubs poping up just not near me

Brew kit = tea, sugar, milk, water, spoon, mugs, kettle, camping cooker & mess tins for super noodles. None of this is required if the cafe is open at Notts.
 
mike you going to that event in feb in essex be good meet you and see behind the scenes of racing because its something that does interest me

When I used to race 1/10th electrics I used to carry alot of spares due to running an old car and dodgy driving...

we had a couple of cheque book drivers..new parts and all the best equipment bought as soon as it was in the shops

it made my racing even more fun.....beating guys who had nearly a £1000 on the track with a car that cost me £200


If I had a track or a race meeting that was more local than across the country I think I would get back into racing

and I would have to dig out a new brew kit...
 
There track at crail yor way wezg went there last year lol last year that only bloody yesterday.......come 2nd in scottish championship.think there another they run by same guys at log....summit think that where they do 1:1.... Well that if you into topstox mate...

I know Notts very well, I've raced there many times over the years. I had a go at top stox too but the were to many A holes that didn't like the car I built - I was winning at my second event so the coopers and tickles started cheating.
 
i think its a karting track

i wish that there was more people around my area with rc's just me and wagon we know a couple of others but most lose intrest in this hobby quick so its impossible to start a club or anything with 2 members,,,were lucky in our area were spoilt for choice in places to go

I know the crail area well...its a go kart track on the old airfield..

I only have an fg baja so not the topstox....
the only other place I have heard rumours of them being used is lochgelly but again thats not off road....

Whats involved with the topstox???

is it a custom built car or a converted car thats used???

might need to head to lochgelly and see if any of the guys do have off roaders and see if they get together at all..
