Hey guys yet another issue....I believe it's the brakes sticking, the truck will work for a minute then it will stop engine still running however wot move or moves extremely hard.when I push it by hand it rolls hard.i took it all apart checked the gears to make sure but it seems its the shaft that holds the brake arm from the servo it won't move.i cleaned everything put it back together and the arm moved as it should however tryed to run it and it moved 4 feet and same issue any ideas?? Getting really frustrated with this thing given all the problems I've had and the fact it's barly seen driving time...

i like the rcdad approach. go get a tasty adult beverage. enjoy the beverage. come back w/a cooler head & take a look at it. is something catching the bushing or brake arm? how is the lil adjustable piece that goes on the other end of the spring opposite the brake arm? maybe you need to back that piece off a lil bit? hard to say w/out looking at it but i'm sure it's an easy fix. not a lot of mechanical operation going on there. :)

Haha I usually slam it on the bench tell it to f itself and walk away till I return,I wish it was something easy though but what's got me stumped is there's no pressure on the brake shaft at all,the adjustable part is ok it's the shaft that goes down and touches the pads there's something going on there soon gonna rip it out and run it with no brakes haha

The flat is facing the pads,I have it all tore apart again and it works fine.i looked for a rock or something that might have been binding it up but didn't see any....all I can do is put it back together and try it again but it probably will mess up again,do the shafts tend to warp? Or maybe the brakes warp?

don't run it w/out brakes. i did this when i forgot to put the set screws in on the aluminum pinion carrier. it sucked bc i had to be extra careful.

Ok,well I shook the truck and a small rock came out of somewhere hopefully that was all it was..also I do see a set screw that goes in towards the spacers for the brakes it looks like there's only 1 but a hole for another maybe I lost a screw which is causing the pads and spacers to get crooked somehow, anyway I'm gonna try it tomorrow and if it still does it look into the set screws

There should be 2 adjustment screws.

Ah ha so I am indeed missing one that could be part of or the problem, ill have to look into that.thanks rcdad!! Donno what I'd do without this forum and the knowledgeable people on here haha

bring the set screw you do have to the hardware store. you should be able to get a set screw from there. sldo loctite them once you putthem in & set them.

My xb just had this prob, turns out applying throttle with the brake arm free to vibrate about was allowing it to move backward and bind up with the linkage when you releasesed the throttle. and mine also got jammed... A little force opened the brake, and I put an additional capture nut on the linkage after the brake arm, where it was previously allowed to flap about and that kept it in place. Just leave some room so it operates freely when you throttle. I even bent the brake arm slightly so when brake is applied the arm is more inline rather than at an extreme angle. I also noticed the end of the linkage was hitting the clutch housing and not allowing full throw of the servo. After those adjustments it works great...

I haven't had the chance to try mine again yet but I'm pretty sure mine is due to the missing adjustment screw which is allowing the pads and spacers to become crooked and jam,but ill defiantly look into what happened with your xb and see if mines doing that

Finally found time to work on the mt,it was indeed the adjustment screw for the brakes that was causing my problem, got another one and it works fine back up and running! Doin some bashing this weekend :)
