sparera, i was just kidding with fg onics, about takin the fins off lol, i may aswell buy a new one, maybe lightened i don't think the price difference will be huge anyway..i did take it out for a 20min run, but was ok, i suppose i can take one outa another fg for now anyway, cheers buddy.

no worries, i don't think there i any noticable diff with lightened flywheels price wise.

be interesting to know how much hotter they run with a lightened compared to a standard, someone should do a test :D

Does it not have the same downside as on a full scale car engine? Lighter flywheel equals less momentum, more likely to loose speed/rpm going uphill or when faced with temporary increased resistance on the wheels? Might be wrong though.

darksoul has a lightened flywheel but i personally wouldnt use it myself it just looks weak, ther is another one that pops up on flebay that has more matrial removed than the ds unit. i would say if there are 2 fins missing on opposite side and teh flywheel is still balanced (make sure to properly check the balance) then use it hoever if the majority of fins are missing OR teh flywheel is out of balance replace it.

i don't think strength in a flywheel is important, other that providing timing/spark for the coil and cooling the flywheel isnt under a great deal of stress.

Jeez thats no good, wonder what fails? other than moving air the flywheel doesn't actually make contact with anything other that where it sits on the crank.
