I got the tub from Advance Hobbies in Ontario... it wasn't cheap though lol

going to end up about $400 for body tub and wing... could have bought my mt back for that lol

my dif is still enroute supposedly but the seller keeps stalling me off for a tracking number. I finally had to file a paypal dispute. after being told 4 times he'd get it tomorrow for over 2 weeks I give up. looks like I will not be getting my chassis, dif etc etc

oh well. I have an order coming from tower hobbies. I'll just toss a firehammer dif in for now I guess.

that shock tower is pretty sweet. I am impressed how smooth it is. they must use a press type mold to make them

Well here's how it sits now. Just about done. I need to find some nyloc nuts so I can install the servos, and I have lots 10 feet of fuel tubing in this garage... I must have leant it out to someone because I have ripped this place apart.

I made a carbon rear brace last night. Just bolting it in now. And I have to cut the body to fit the pipe so going to go look at some pics here first to see what others have cut. I don't want to massacre my body

Hi baz just a tip for ye if you can get some rubber rings that fit in the mounting holes of the body and then glue them in there antifriction rings you know what i mean they use them on cars threw the firewalls for cables and so on

Thanks Lee. That's a great idea. I probably have some in the automotive box. I want to get all the cuts done before I do a final clean and apply masks. I used avery label paper and sized up some flames... I am not a huge flame fan anymore but it's tough to get anything to fit all the curves. I also have VW emblems done up to paint in chrome.

oh ya. I need to order some more KCR balloon springs for the back. those shocks are absolutely gorgeous. and I love the way the windows are installed. Very sturdy. I did try to push them out... stress test hehe. I love carbon. going to be lots on this beast, and the clear wing is just until my carbon one arrives from you. kind of dark in my man cave for pictures. I'll take everything outside later. am looking on the forum here for pics to see what I need to cut for the pipe. not like cutting lexan with a dremmel drum sander. I'll have to actually cut. once it's painted I will do about 8 coats of clear to protect it. I have an auto airbrush for that, just have to hit an autobody supply to get some

Hi Pipeous, that bug is looking sweet, I see you share the same love for carbon as me, more the better...

Have you tested the pipe yet? looks the nuts...:):):):):)

No, it's been sitting in the parts pile waiting for the goodies... I am trying to decide how much body to cut out. it's like brain surgery to me. scared to screw it up lol. just removed the pipe again to see. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b103/badmonte/misc077-1.jpg my pipe should fit like this one. looks like I have to hack it to the edge of the fender... and I need to open the slots for the wing a tad.

I love carbon. I still have a big sheet and was offered another sheet for this e heli sitting here (paid $40 for it). satisfying making your own parts. the front bulkheads are home made, the carbon part on top is chopped down from an on road (had to bolt it under the servo tray due to the angle of a flat chassis it normally sits on) brake cable holder came from another home made part. even the battery tray is carbon

well, time to start cutting I guess. I almost want to order another pipe and use this one somewhere else. build another car/buggy around a pipe. LOL

Hey sweetpea....Lookin good..lov that victory pipe....Going to make some crazy
power for ya.......Very good ..clean work.....check with ya later..Slawhammer

I sure had to carve a lot out of the body to fit the vrc pipe. I hope I don't bust the rear fender off in a tumble. the pipe hits the body quite a bit. Been going slow taking more, tst fitting. finally got the body mounts to go in just now. now to clean it up a bit.

I also had to cut the rear mounting bracket on the pipe and slide it over the wing mount rather than bolt to it. otherwise I'd have had to cut even more. Now I need to hit the auto store to get some heat shield so I don't melt the wing mount.

I have this problem rib by my right shoulder and it dislocated again. bloody killing me so hard to do much work. The cartilage is gone so nothing to hold it in. Old school hockey hehe. Old hockey injury was fine until 3 years ago when I was in a bad car accident. That tore the stuff left that held it in. After working in a hospital, I hate going to them

Body is masked and ready for paint now.

Thanks. I am going to be using chrome, flaming orange and fasescent blue for the flames. hard to see but the vw emblem is by the back there being done in chrome.

I made those masks with avery label paper... don't do it. it's a pain to take off lol. I had to wet a q tip with solvent and put on after I cut with the hobby knife, then clean glue with solvent (I use a really high grade solvent for detailing to remove glue). took me forever to get those flames out.

I am trying a new clear out a well. it's triple thick krylon. I have used krylon stuff on lots, even fixing stuff on real autos like faded mirrors, but this stuff is supposed to be like spraying 3 coats with each coat and give a glass depth finish. I will be putting a lot on and wetsanding to give it real depth. finally get to use the airbrush I got from Slawhammer

I was going to paint today but have to fix a couple of the rc's. I only have a nitro car that is ready to play (mind you it's rain season so not much playtime left)

pipe it should look pritty cool when done, can't wait to see the finished result bud :cool2::cool2:

hahaha. I buy painter's tape by the box but rarely use it anymore for house painting.
well I just slept 12 hrs. can't believe I slept that long. I'll get some paint sprayed on it today and do coats between wrenching on the other stuff... have to go collect some moola too. I just hit the wall exhausted. been a long time since I had a full sleep, over 2 weeks. man I feel good today. my hands don't hurt..

I haven't played with this paint much so have to do some practice fades on other stuff. I normally do simple schemes with body tattoos for something different

Well that mask I printed out was a disater. I had to repair a lot as the only way I could get the crap off was to spray the whole thing down with solvent and then clean up the glue with solvent or iso and q tips. man what a task... I'll sand and repaint it again later... I want to try this beast out soon
