Both are good. FG's are fairly bullet proof for bashing and can take a beating whereas the white flag comes out early on the baja's and a wheel falls off to stop the punishment :lol: On a track the baja's would probably have the edge as they seem to be more race focussed. Depends what you want. Oh and if you get a baja you will have to buy "genuine HPI" plugs for a tenner each and "genuine HPI" carbs for approx £100 :clown::clown::badair:

right so even tho it is a bargain at 450 realistically i`m lookin at more like 550-600 as it needs a new rubber seal for the fuel tank or somethin.

No mate I was being sarcastic :D Some outlets list parts like plugs & carbs as "genuine HPI" and sell them for a fortune when they are actually made by NGK or Walbro for example and you can get the manufacturers branded parts for 1/10th the cost!

plus when you get a baja you can't help but look at all the upgrades. you think that alittle here and there no big deal but then you sit back one day and say that " i have enough into this thing to have bought 3 ss kits by know"lol. a friend of mine has over $7000 us into just 1 of his baja's, and he own's 5 baja's. but man do they look nice.

n ot all about lookin nice tho is it lol. not all performance either is about gettin a good deal and gettin a good bash out of it without breakin. which is stronger marder or baja. i`d say marder as seen more broken bajas than marders tbh lol.

That might be because you see more baja's than marders! Both decent cars both have weakpoints, FG parts are more cost effective, but you can do so much more with a baja.

i cant comment on bajas but my marder based beetle takes everything thrown at it never broke anything carwise but its all alloy which i wanted for this reason ive only had trouble with engines tyres and clutches but after a long time now all sorted touch wood my mate has a km baja and thats been ok its broke a couple of plastic parts and the diff died big time but you have to look at the treatment these cars get when out bashing if you done it for real in real size cars it would probaly kill the driver just look at the damage paris dakar cars go through its mega

I love my Baja. I've only had one problem with mine(that wasn't my fault). The stock clutch setup is (IMO) a little weak. After a wreck at the offroad track where my baja landed on it's side(from well over 10 feet in the air), the bolt holding the clutch bell to the pinion gear kept coming apart every couple of tanks. Nothing was broken, it just refused to stay together, yes I used locktite every time. I got the Turtle Racing Clutch setup and I havn't had a single problem with it since.

I've only broken it 3 times, and I doubt any RC car would have survived what broke mine. I bent the frame and the top plate when I hit a tree head on with the bumper at about 25-30MPH or 40-50KPH. I also slid it sideways (at high speed) into the very same tree, and broke the right rear A-arms. Both examples where using a little caution would have saved me a lot of time and $$. The only other time I broke it, was actually before I fixed the bent frame. I ran it in a little circle track race and somehow managed to win with the bent frame. I was so excited, after doing a few manditory donuts for the crowd, I decided to see how high I could jump it off a wood jump that was in the infield. I managed to get up to about 30mph before I hit the ramp, so my Baja was WAY up there. I'd guess it was about 25-30 feet in the air... with a bent frame. Being a 5B the nose was coming down first. Trying to bring the nose up to prevent any further damage to the frame, I floored it untill it landed. Anyone who's been into offroad RC can tell you that's going to break something. The only thing it broke were the dogbones. I was actually quite impressed that nothing else was broken.

I'm running an SS kit with only a few modifications. I have the TR racing clutch setup, Dark Soul bones(purchased after I broke the stock ones), RPM arms on the rear, outerwears prefilters all around, and a killerB kill switch. Nothing else, unless you want to count my upgrade to a better steering servo. My biggest complaint about it would probablly be the air filter setup. My next hopup will be the Blurr quick release air filter setup to make swapping air filters easy.

Personally I would go Baja. Great fun for bashing plenty of sideways action on tap, loads of other guys running them therefore help with parts etc. If bashing is your thing then baja it has to be. It's the daddy of the bashing world.

nah gonna get the marder it is a great price and very strong.

good choice mate, like james said HPI style baja's need a fair bit of dollars getting them reliable. front braces etc to stop chassis bending, TR clutch systems to stop the bolt breaking the list goes on. FG you can pretty much bash hard out of the box. Alloy engine mounts are a must but other than that its one awesome large scaler.
