No news to regular contributors and readers that I've been in sunny (now occasionally wet as the rainy season has started - coinciding with the team's return I suppose!!) MEXICO !
I've a couple of private flights I'm planning, so in paying off the credit card, I added a little extra, nowhere near enough, but to take the HIT out of the flights purchases.
The travel agent gets back to me - doesn't help with the 6-hours' time differential - and says the purchase was refused / blocked by the credit card company.
No great surprise - it's happened before for larger purchases, simply requiring 'validation' of the purchase amount from the Bank's fraud department.
I try calling the bank international contact number - normally I deal on the internet, but an instant reply was required - using Skype, but the connection was inadequate.
My only option was to make an international call to a British '0870-' (read expensive) number using the company Crackberry.
DAMN, was I sent around the houses; this department, that department .... and finally to Card Fraud ...
"Month, Year of birth please?" OK
"When did you start this card account?" - Good question - sorted - 21 years' ago!!
"How much did you pay in your last payment?" OK
"Why did you pay back more than you owed?" !!!

I'm thinking 'YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU FECKERS BLOCKED MY PAYMENT BECAUSE I GAVE YOU MORE THAN I OWED - CHEEKY SODS!! - JUST LOOKING FOR BANK CHARGES'
I actually say 'Could you explain please?'
"You never put a credit card into credit Sir" "It's not permitted"
KINELL !!!!!!
'Can you please confirm it is now unblocked and that the purchase may be permitted'
"Yes Sir, no problem".
FECK ME !!!

Unbebloodylievable !!
Another day at the orifice !!
