Carb Warning! Check Before You Buy!

I bought a wt1254/wt1242 carb last yr and when I just went to order up a rebuid kit it seems Walbro don't offer one for this carb. $100 bucks down the drain! I contacted OBR and Sean says he has some extra spares he can send but not a full kit. So I'm putting out this public service announcement to let everyone know they should be checking for rebuild kits before buying and maybe even buying a kit when you purchase a new carb just incase!

Just the screens. Never touch the internals and you will have success.

Not really, maybe I'm just bad at rebuilding lol. But it annoys me when something like a carb stops me from running all weekend

It's based off the wt series carb.... same rebuild kit.... obr just had walbro do some tweaks to it....

I'm totally confused here. OBR told me Walbro isn't offering kits for the 1242/1254 but if the K20-WAT kit is suposed to work for all wt series carbs then why does Walbro list K27-WAT as the repair kit for a 1107?

I've rebuilt all of my carbs from 990 to the 1107 with the k20 kit, only thing it doesn't come with is the metering spring.

Obr Also claims to make 9hp from a 32cc engine...
They are just different kits. The k20-wat covers virtually all wt series carbs. The k27-wat is more specific and doesn't have the good fuel pump side diaphragms. (Which are brown btw. The black rubber ones suck.) Tell you what, if tour going to buy a new one. I'll pay for shipping and a few extra bucks and see what kits works for it, and post my results.

Thanks Sean that's much appreciated. It seems the 990 and 1107 spiral diaphram kits share the same K3-WYTA model number. I'm going to order both the K3-WYTA & K20-WAT and see.

The spiral diaphragm shouldn't need replaced it's a "life time" part. Or at least in theory there's nothing to really go wrong with it.

My assumption is the screens are dirty and the membrane doesn't look like it will take too well to cleaning. So if it doesn't I'd like to have a spare on hand. K20 for the screens and K3 for the membrane.

Just clean it off with some fresh gas. Unless it's really bad it should be fine. Just keep everything in order. Its not layered nearly as nice as the regular diaphragm.
