few bits.

i have decided to change the reciver and transmittor on the carson to my hitek for now.

the one that came with it is grand but as i got the spectrum for my fg i may aswell use the hitek now on the carson as it is better quality than the stock carson supply.

i have already changed onboard battery from 3000mah to 4300mah.

must finish bodyposts in morning.

pico style unit.

hey lads i am just heading to bed now as i had a long day at the r/c machines, worked all night and evening at my fg and also got my carson onroad painted(here) today, but i just wanted to point out one thing i think there is a modified unit in there with the failsafe and reciever in this carson onroad,( as standard is pretty impressive) it looks to me like a pico style unit kill switch, basicly i looked at it and it is a fail safe size circuit board shoved inside the reciver box with the failsafe and reciver, and it has a few wires running over towards the engine kill switch which connect to the engine kill switch.

it definatly is a pico style unit.

im impressed with this for a stock machine!

very good quality machine now,im very happy with it so far.
check out these photos, hard to see maybe but best i could get.

p.s whats the best way to wash an r/c car, this one needs a wash already and just out of box lol

can you see where the wires are leading to the engine kill switch wires.

intresting.....

dc..nice looking unit....Yup looks like a engine kill switch...suggestion for ya..
you should cut those wires out side the engine some place and put in 2 disconnect couplers
for some reason you can't start the engine..un hook the wires ..to see if engine starts..
this saves you some headaches on figuring why won't start...Slawhammer

good idea

that is yet another great idea out of you slawhammer, they can be a nuissance alright,i ran car in wet this morning and got the electrics a little wet and would not start for a while.

got it started after drying the pico unit.(i will call it a pico lol)

good idea alright must do that and get another one of these units for my fg.

beauty of onroad speed (VIDS)

the beauty of onroads lads is there speed, they differ from there offroad brothers by having larger gear ratios, tuned pipes, upgraded carb's and intakes and very small tyres.

i ran the car and got a few nice videos today,it is seriously able to move, just part throttle is enough to throw it off course.lot of rear wheel spin.

hard to master the power of this car,it excelerates very fast and is really begining to open up now,i did get the electrics slightly wet today so was wary of that too, just gave car a wash now and dryed out all electrics.

here are few vids.

(coming shortly)

dc... I made a plastic container for my kill switch and filled it with clear silacone to make it water proof..Does yours have a lite? for on/off to see...I mounted my kill switch outside on top of my radio box..so I can see the green lite is on to start...I can show you a picture
on maybe theres one in my project..If not I will post one there...Slawhammer
PS..as to your on/off switch you can cover it with a peace of plastic wrap
I'll post a picture for ya

cheers slaw.

yes i saw that light,green.

its a good device alright but would be even better if the engine could be switched off from the transmittor manualy too.

cheers slaw.

here are the vids i promised.

ok here are those vids i promised earlier.

one at atime cause very slow upload lol

Hi Dc, here are a couple of tips for you if you don't know already- put your foot in front of car to warm tyres up and there are some good wets out there if you run in the wet, also we used to use ice cream tubs to go over the electrics, like the cart dior , i think...

well spoted

yes trip the one thing thats not so good on the car so far is the spring on the pull start,i might take out the rope and just shorten it a little, make it tighter..

im half tempted to go at some upgrades on it already, but i am going to wait to see how robust it is in standard trim first,i have all the alloy upgrades here waiting, alloy diff mounts here, alloy new diff, alloy rear lower a-arms,carbon rear brace, alloy engine mounts x2,alloy gearplate new, alloy elcon adaptor, spur gear steel, i am very tempted to throw them on now lol

i also have the transmitter changed already to hitek and the in car battery aand transmittor to hitek,in car battery is changed to 4500 mah from 3000mah.

all is well in the carson.....

so far so good.

Hey dc..bigger the better has a vid on how to tighten up the pull start spring and cord
so don't cut the string....SLawhammer

hello all more updates

hello all how are you all doing tonight.

so i had more time on my hands tonight and said i would do some work on the onroad carson.

first of all i had to shelf the onboard pico, don't like them, ran the car few times and i got it just slightly damp and kept staling engine,so i bought the car in dryed out everything thurley and still no go,so out came the pico and put in an airtronix micro failsafe(pico that came with it also had a built in failsafe)

so moving on,i had a brand new alloydiff and all the diff alloy mounts (didnt need to put them on yet as car was new) but i decided to put them in now.

so ahead i went and put them on in about twenty mins.

lovely fit.

i plan to upgrade all the following bits eventually on this car and the parts here i mention i have all of them.

i have most from my fg beetle which recently got the elcon treatment(drivetrain) so i have all the rear alloy a-arms etc for this.

first though i am going to wait untill they need to be fitted.
1/alloy balljoints
2/alloy gearplate
3/alloy rear lower a-arms x2
4/alloy diff (done)
5/alloy diff mounts (done)
6/alloy engine large mount and small
7/elcon spur adaptor
8/carbon fiber rear diff brace

when i am replacing these parts with the alloy parts i have, i am going to get them anodised blue to match car.
(car already comes with lots of parts blue anodised)

so what i have done so far is
1/ replaced radio and reciever to hitek digital aggressor
2/replaced on board car battery to 4500 mah up from 3000mah
3/replaced plastic diff mounts to alloy
4/replaced plastic diff to alloy
5/added airtronix failsafe (new)

so i aint going to do another thing to this car until needed as i want to check its durability.
i just done as i will say the vital upgrades for now,as i had them aswell.

here some updates on this brand new machine.
