Thought I would post a couple pics of my MTXL chassis replacement. I started transitioning the stuff over today. Hope to complete it over the Christmas break. 46148379-746B-4464-9221-7F397C0AA1DB.webp

I was just mocking the driveline up in that video. Finding out I had to reuse the stock plastic spacers from the mtxl on the center diff and rear center driveshaft carrier. Well I wasn't having it. I ended up marking the spur location on the chassis with a sharpie best I could. Then used an air die grinder to notch the chassis. Once I got spur clearance I realized the spur actually hung lower than the chassis. So I used a Jofer center diff skid plate that bolts on the bottom. Well it still hit the skid. So I again busted out the die grinder and made it work. I feel much better not having those spacers especially adding any kind of power to the chassis. Hope to get it out this weekend for a test run.20191214_143206.webp20191214_143435.webp20191214_151609.webp20191215_174617.webp

Gmail nice adaptation. I spoke with Mike at RCmax today and he said he made custom billet shims for this exact reason as he’s gotten enough request. He mentioned originally thinking that people were going to put larger motors with a smaller spur for speed and therefore not need the notch. I sent DetroitPerfermance a couple emails to see about getting some sent out, haven’t heard back yet but hopefully they will send them out. Mike said no charge and thanks for supporting his work!!
gman, are you steel city RC? If so thanks so much for posting the video!!

It worked out great. Now the center shafts are pretty much parallel to the chassis. Trust me I didn't want to notch the chassis but I didn't want to use spacers either. My concern was the center shafts being too long without the spacers. But that wasn't an issue thankfully. What are you doing for shocks? I put 5ive shocks front on front and rear on rear. Very saggy...

Dude. Nice swap IMO. Next question I have about this chassis. Have you noticed there are no holes for aftermarket exhaust to anchor down to? Guess that means I need to drill it out? What type of bit and process would you use to drill out the exhaust holes?

Thanks. I use an Olimat pipe. The pipe comes with a bracket that mounts to the rear shock tower. Then the pipe bolts to the bracket. No holes drilled. Although I did have a Jetpro on it originally. I had to drill a hole in the side splash guard for the tip to exit. That pipe bolted to the engine by brackets and needed no chassis drilling either. What pipe you have?
