50:1 man got banned?

wow, i got a kick out of him. he didnt bother me enough that i would want him banned. so he believed in 50:1 oil ratio, whats the big deal. i think all the people giving him a hard time is what got him banned. ive seen worse advice on this forum aswell as others and no one got banned for it. sometimes people give completely false info and i think they should be banned then, if 50:1 dude is. we all supposed to be friends here, or are we not? he never talked down to anyone even after the verbal beatings he took on these threads where he stated he loves 50:1 ratio.

forgive me cuz im kind of an underdog kinda guy. i don't jump on band wagons just cuz its the cool thing to do, and i have compasion for others.

not that i agree with him 100%, but 50:1 is fine in some situations where the engine is not being run hard. i wish he would have acknowledged that in his posts, he would prolly still be here. if the engine is run hard then yes it needs a higher ratio. i think he knows that but even if he didnt, who cares.

years ago, i ran an engine(it was an esp fm 30.5 2-bolt) at 100:1 to see how it would last. i used amsoil sabre. sabre claims 100:1 ratio (i know, lawn equip, and such)so i figured i would play with it as i was ready for something new anyways. that damn motor lasted for atleast 4 gallons and it prolly had atleast 4 gallons on it at the 25:1 ratio prior to that. and this took place in the summer heat.

ever since then i went back to 25:1. all im saying is don't be so hard on the guy. if you don't like what he has to say, take it with a grain of salt.

trouble is he was giving bad advice as regards what causes a black plug and then he wouldn't shut up about it; maintaining that it was due to too much oil and not a rich mixture; which 99% of the time is incorrect.
for us that know better it is no big deal but say a newb says he has a grey/white plug and he is told that it is "too little oil , just add a bit" and then lean seizes an engine i don't think that he /she would think the same...

The Zenoah manual states use a high quality 2 stroke oil compliant with Japanese standard JASO FC and International Standards Organisation ref ISO EGC at a ratio of 25:1

The JASO and ISO std has ratings as follows:
JASO FA / - = the lowest quality of lubrication and highest smoke emission
JASO FB / ISO EGB = increased lubrication qualities and detergent for lower smoke emissions
JASO FC / ISO EGC = lubrication qualities as for FB but with far higher detergent content for even lower smoke emissions
JASO FD / ISO EGD = as above but with the highest content of detergent for minimal smoke emissions

50:1 man was claimed that the oil he was using had superior lubrication qualities to the 'water like' japanese oils recommeded by the engine manufacturers and therefore he could run at 50:1 due to increased lubrication qualities of his 'superior' oil. The above standards clearly show this not to be the case as they use both the Japanese standard and the International standard for oil quality. With oils over the FB / EGB quality, the lubrication content does not increase they just give lower emissions hence less smoke from the exhaust.

Sooooooo, I will stick with Zenoah and run at 25:1 with my oil that conforms to the above standards!!

The dude got banned.. really ?

Im suprised i havnt been banned yet

He did get a little carried away!!
I'm surprised you haven't either !!

Perhaps Voo had had some 'quiet words' and was told where to go!
I'm with Motorman, to a point, but there is only 'so much' you can take.
A little fun is one thing, blatant insults aimed directly at individuals needs addressing.

Whatever!!

Al.

I am new here, but gonna add my .02. You do in fact run a weedeater engine, but that is beside the point. Just because you do not agree does not make it bullshit advice. I can assure you, manufactures play it safe with their recommendations.

sigh,,I am older. I have seen and ruined, a bunch of 2 smokers in my time. We used to mix everything at 15:1 and 20:1. That was many years ago. As the oil and tolerances got better, the mixtures changed.

I was taught that you mix the oil according to the oils technology. I still own and use a chainsaw that states 20:1 on the lid. I mix it at 50:1 with stihl chainsaw oil. By all of you guys theory's, I should follow the chainsaw gas cap directions, and not the oils directions. You would be wrong.

It may be safer on the motor to run the 25:1 as suggested by the manufactures, but not the only way to successfully run the engine, and possibly not the best way to get "all you can get" from the engine.

If the manufactures opinion was really that important to you,,,you would not put any aftermarket parts on your car,,as they do not recommend that,,,,,

so any facts for either side or is it just an immature pissing contest?

We're not running weedwackers here we're running $400 $600 $1000 even $2500 engines And to go against manufacturers/builders recommendations is just plain stupid!

i even got my popcorn out for this topic, was even prepared to dig the bits out me teeth wit a coktail stick!! ..good while it lasted & the brightside is, i still got half a bag of popcorn left :P

shrug,,,,so it is an expensive weedwhacker engine,,,,still a weedwhacker.

"They" did not engineer RC cars with these engines,,,,then somebody said "wow,,,why don't we put that engine on a weedwhacker!".....noooo,,,the weedwhacker "whacked weeds" for 15-20 yrs then and someone said "wow!, I'm gonna put that motor on a rc car"

If no one had ever gone against manufactures/builders recomendations,,,it would be a boring world in all hobbies, this one included.:D It surprises me you would think it is stupid to try things or expermint instead of following the printed rules. Why else would this forum and others like it exist?

beautiful boat by the way,,,,

Don't be supposed mate......;)
I
He was banned for taking the piss mate.
Can you imagine a newbie coming on here and taking his advice!
I could imagine he,d tell his friends that LSF was handing out false info.
He knew what he was doing.

that turns 20k as opposed to 12-14k in a weedwacker...extra revs = more heat
these motors have been in rc's for nearly 30yrs so i think there has probably been quite a bit of experimentation with oil ratios in that time
