In the pic, the heads of the screws look worn also. Maybe it is that way from your tools during assembly. Just a thought crank end is tapered. Maybe the elcon wasn't seated all the way on. Sometimes it helps to tap on it when you are installing it on the crank. If the clutch is not fully seated it may wobble. Just a thought...

But Rcdad I torqued the screw to the crank at 60in pound :D .... That is slightly over the min recommended.... your thoughts?

Regarding the set screw... it just looks like that. During the install of the set screw, no excessive force was require to damage it beside just tightening it properly 1 1/2 of a turn. When you get the Elcon please tell me your experience.

BTW Rcdad... if the crank bearing is bad... the seal would obviously be worn or significantly damage right?

Correct it it normally visible. You would be able to feel some play in it also. You said it was tight and your seals look clean, so it sounds good to me. :)

I would tighten it a little tap it and repeat. I read awhile back of some guys having trouble with their Losi's. Some guys had tighten up to 80 ft/lbs. and is still need to seat a couple mm more. The tapping will help if it is not seating all the way. I'm not saying you have this problem it was just an idea. :)

im thinkng its the motor and gear plate out of line.i think bell is not centered on clutch.

If the bell is out of round it would do that too.

It might be worth installing the clutch and gear plate with clutch bell off the chassis, just to see if the bell still rubs.

I don't know guys, maybe I will try Rcdad's torque screw on Elcon to crank around 80in lb. Maybe that might help. Hopefully it wouldn't snap the screw :( My question for you Rcdad is why the car wants to run during idle even though the clutch is set to 8k? Something is miss-aligned, for now I'm clueless until I figure it out.

It seems that when I place the stock clutch and the Elcon into the bell; the Elcon is harder to center due to a slightly tighter fit. I don't know RCdad... you have to buy one and test it for yourself... please let me know.

Either the tension screws need to be tightened more or the whole assembly is rubbing enough to grip the bell.

I'll pick one up with my next order and give it a go.

Yep, I believe so too. I think the reason one of the set screw bar has a more dramatic scratch is due to a slight off set of the Elcon when installed. The funny thing is all four set screw bars rub onto the bell. The Elcon basically gives no room for a lopsided install.

im betting its same problem that was breaking the stock clutches .the bell is the problem if its hitting metal on the clutch. maybe clutch is wrong size if bell has rub marks all around the inside.

The elcon clutch is a standard 54mm clutch size. Should be the same size as our 2 shoe. Something is not right, whether its a bad part or misalignment.
