Hey Guys..
Its been a while, started to check back in here over the last week or so after being AWOL for a year or so... Did ya miss me ???:lol:

So haven't run my MT since the summer of 2011 :( due to other commitments.

Ive got a quite winter coming up so dug out my bug, decided to strip it down for a good clean and service as its been sat on the shelf for over a year.

Man it was in a state, forgot about the issues i had last year (probably why i put it away for a while).

Stripped the diff out, not much grease in their, plenty over everything around it though, not even sure how it got out, looks like silicone at the end gave up as the retaing screw was missing too !!
Teeth all in good condition, re greased and packed, sealed and a new retaining screw.

Checked the clutch and their were no pads what so ever - none !!! I do recall my last few runs being bad and figured I'd tear it down but never got round to it. Over a year later and im glad i decided to tear it down before thinking about starting it first.

New fuel lines and a clunk. (why is it called a clunk ??)
Stripped down the Carb, that was all in good condition, new gaskets and a new plug.

The head gasket looks ok, so probably not going to change that.

Front brake (cable) disks are a tad rusty, pads were shot so changed them and cleaned up the disks.
The front left square drive was loose, the disk wasnt even seated on the hub and just rattling around on the shaft.

Swapping the Hitech 645 for a Bluebird 630MG on the front brakes, thinking the same for the thottle/R brake. - Maybe a Savox 1256 if i can sneak one past the Mrs..

Layshaft bearing has siezed completly :w00t: solid. wont move what so ever !!! Never seen a bearing to that before on a scale model ??

I guess its been sitting in the garage on the shelf through the seasons for over a year which hasnt helped !

Guess my thoughts here are for the Newbies, (and maybe not so newbies) is it's worth while stripping your trucks down and checking those parts you cant see periodically. - It could've cost me a shed load more if i had tried to run it as it was !!

Cant wait to get it all back together... im getting itchy fingers

should have took a load of pics mate would have made a nice thread sounds lucky that you never used it and gave the bug a rebuild i check mine after every run and a major rebuild every year unless its not had much use

Hey,
I have few pics of the diff and the padless clutch, couldn't put them up as I'm having trouble loading it from webshots. I've got photobucket too but can't remember my login and I've changed email address. Will try again later in week.

Ah ha !! sorted with Photobucket !!

Bluebird servo 630MG

Finally got round to re building the MT today, putting everything back in nice and clean - dare say it wont stay that way for long :D

Still waiting on the Bluebird 630MG servo for the throttle/brake. Post man hasn't been yet today and its gone 5pm

I've put a Hitec 645 that i had on the front brakes for now, the set up is tight on the disk/pads so hopefully will offer some good braking, I've got Baja wheels/tyres on so not a huge rolling mass to deal with.

Going to see how this Bluebird performs with the rear brakes, if i like it, I will get another for the fronts brakes. At 15Kg torque i'm thinking it will do the job. Reading through past threads that some of you have on this blue bird servo, it seems a good buy at £30.

Took me 20 mins to get her started !! after i figured out i had the fuel lines the wrong way round, i put the clunk line to the top of the carb, :o and the breather line was sucking in a bunch of air... once she fired, i let her tick over for a while. No signs of any air leaks from changing all the gaskets and seals.

Cant drive it yet as no servo, but was sure fun listening to her tick over..
cant beat the smell of 2 stroke :lol:

Yep cant wait. Still waiting on delivery of the servo. !! I paid for next day delivery and its still not turned up !

I had issues eating clutches till I read a post about turning the clutch backwards! It works great! it hooks up harder with little to no slip. now my clutches last 3 times longer.

Good to have you back!!
I tried the Bluebird 630mg and its been faultless. The 15kg of torque works well with the layshaft tuning brake set up which is also a worth while upgrade (£30 Rossmods).
