correct way for piston ring?

Hi guys, just want to double check as ive never replaced head on a reed before so no idea if its any different from the norm.. is this the correct position for the piston ring with the gap of the ring where the arrow is on the piston (its a taylor 35v2) ?

ah its ok think i sussed it, was a little notch on the piston where the ring sits

That arrow indicates the direction of the exhaust port and that side of the piston should be pointed towards it.

The gap in the piston ring aligns with a tiny pin that is pressed into the ring land. The gap must be in between the pin other wise you can't compress the piston ring and it will not fit into the cylinder bore.

sorted cheers guys, wasnt sure if it was same method as a piston port as its 1st time ive opened a reed up all back together now but another issue which i will make a post about!
