DBXL 2.0 Dbxle 2.0 diff issue

Got another batch of Vitavon goodies. Try to get installing them tomorrow. Front steering knuckle/carrier sloppy and bike one before so had the Vitavon ones but was waiting to see how everything else was going to work. I think I should have all the week points covered. Only thing left is center diff if it breaks....Put some pics on when done....

I am thinking about going with the Vitavon diff HOUSING in the rear only....first might do the front later but the rear takes this biggest hit.

Some videos I have watched some use the stock diff in the housing. Is there a factor as to why you used their diff?

Vitavon shows two one that is round like in some of your post and the other by Vitavon is shaped like the stock diff not sure with Vitavon is there a difference.
 
I replaced everything gears, housing, spider and side gears with Vitavon parts..My thoughts were let the buggy nickel and dime me for bearings or what not. Or do it once and do it right.Yes Vitavon is priced above most others but I have never had such ease with assembly. Everything I have installed went in super smoothly. Put the braces and hubs on today after all and it took 15-20 minutes per part.I have used many other big name parts on other trucks and the fit wasn't even close,no names gonna be mentioned. Even the necessary hardware is perfect. Parcou one is v1 the other is v2,which is what I used. V1 looks just like stock and is like 10 bucks cheaper. The v2 uses the "squares " to hold spider gears. My rear diff spider gears were bad and I believe that because they're not supported well in plastic housing they went bad. I don't get a lot of run time on my stuff and don't beat the trap out of them but I don't baby them either. The buggy pulls wheelies constantly now ,absolute beast... l think we'll worth the price and will update as far as how things hold up. Probably going to look into eliminating wheel extensions by using some thin shims next.........

Thanks for this update. The information is helpful, especially the explanation of the diffs. I am sure I will pick the right one. Do you have a link to the v2 diffs you bought for the DBXL-E 2.0?

Housing I am sure of that one to pick.
 
Got things off ebay...if you Google losi dbxle 2.0 parts on ebay it should come right on!!!!!
Sorry losi dbxle 2.0 parts by Vitavon on ebay....
 
I open it up the rear this morning, I can see some wear on the teeth that was not there the first time I opened this diff. I am good as shimming so the diff gear and input were shimmed well. But what I am hearing not accounted for I assume is the plastic flex under power when bashing.

Those look good compared to mine .My side gears were trash and spider gears torn up.You noticed how spider gears supported only by plastic housing where the Vitavon use squares to support them.I had zero rear wheel power and the noises were crunchy and grinding. Seen lot of folks were killing pinion bearings but Vitavon uses larger one and stock size one.Same setup on steering/carriers. Any luck with ebay. Watch when ordering with shipping.....1st shipment was almost 50 bucks shipping, about five days. Second shipment was 17 bucks and took 10 days.I must have missed picking right shipment 1st time.Any questions I will do my best to help. Good luck!!!!!

I placed the order and got the v2 diffs. I see in the picture that they come with some squares for the diff. I assume the end of the pins for the spider gears go in those when I drop them in?
 
Parcou ,yes ,running 2 million diff oil in all three!!!!Nice cool morning, ran the buggy about 15 minutes, total beast,even ballooning the proline tires. Lights all 4 tires and wheelies easily. BUT......steering servo took a crap.....Guess what Amazon dropped off yesterday!!!!!!

Got new servo installed. Thing is yanking the front tires HARD!!!!! Way better than stock servo. Dropped in with zero issues. Haven't run yet,maybe tomorrow. One question is should I drop bec to 6 volts instead of 8.Servo is rated for 6 or 7.1?......

I have a Max5 ESC, so the highest BES is 7.4v, which is what I have it set as.

I am not overloading the ESC, so 7.4 is good. If I could do 8, I would. This is a big rig. 7.4v is good for me, and I added extra lights in the front and rear that did not come in stock. Servo, without looking it up, can do 7.4v. I do not recall it going to 8, but I need to look it up again.

Edit looked it up...max 7.4v

Stall Torque

  • 50.0 kg-cm (675 oz-in) @ 6.0V
  • 70.0 kg-cm (950 oz-in) @ 7.4V

Operating Speed

  • 0.17 sec/60° @ 6.0V
  • 0.14 sec/60° @ 7.4V
This is the only issue I do not like with the Firma 160A ESC. It is good, but BEC is 6 or jumps to 8, but there is no middle for 7.4v
 
Exactly, no middle ground.....I have the programmer so it's very easy to change.I will give it a try at 6 volts and see how it feels.Thank you parcou!!!!

I got the Vitavon round diff that has the o-ring on it does it need a gasket like the stock? O-ring is all I need put the crown gear back on?
 
Hey parcou,just got done running my buggy. NO ,gasket not used,just o-ring.Put a dab of wd40 on ring to ease assembly and keep from tearing. Standard procedure on all brings for me.Was curious about whether you had received your order. My parts holding up great except for batteries, but working on it.....What batteries you running?

Thx for the reply....next time I will use WD4 it was hard to put on did not know until looking at this now....thx! To be on the safe side for future I need to see where I can find those o-rings.

Running any of those in the DBXL they are hot so I let them cool outside the rig when done and within 4hrs balance charge them to store away.

Vitavon diff it took me a long time to determine I needed to remove the other end in order to get the pin for the sun gear since there is not screw hole on the side of the diff like stock ...:lol

That's going to look super sweet when done. Took me a bit of time to figure out first diff but flew through second. Great quality from Vitavon. Thank you as always for sharing. IF you do front also the pin for drive shaft is tight ,some heat and small punch very handy. Referring to pinion/drives haft pin. I'm sure your aware set screw different in front and rear for the wheel to axle/extensions.

Thanks for that update. I did not get the front, but it is in the plans to do next. Vitavon stuff is so expensive this round. It was the rear diff housing, the round diff itself, and I for Vitavon crown/input gear since mine had some wear.

I will certainly get rid of the plastic diff housing up front on the fence if I do the diff itself at least the gears are still good. The front does take stress, but not as much as the rear, so if I stop the housing flexing, that in itself should be huge. Something will change for sure.

First run of the year and talk about mowing the lawn!!!!!! Luv this buggy but gonna let it go. I can see I will have to replace the batteries. Only have about 3 hours runtime and was wondering about opinions on value. 1300.oo dollars for buggy with close to 1000.oo in upgrades, stock motor and esc. Also have original radio and receiver because I use dx5c and non avc receiver. Appreciate any opinions and I'm in Washington Pa. If any interest. All stock parts included. Probably going to replace with second 5t 2.0.
