I have the TR V2 clutch system and 3 sets of the ddm black magic gears. No problems with gears but 1 thing that's bothers me is that there heavier then hell. So I packed up the 3 spurs a 56, 55 and a 52 and went to a place by work that deals with metal fab. To make a long story short the guy I met there is a RC guy and understands what I need done to lighten my 3 spurs so when I get them back I'll post a pic. Just wondering if anybody has tried to lighten these spurs?

That's a great idea! Let us know how much he charged and how much weight you saved. I just bought the DDM gears myself and don't even wanna run them they so heavy. Like wtf 300g+ vs 107g for the plastic setup.

Have seen some drill them out like blackbone gears. Their spur and pinion gears are a decent value for the money but stay clear of their trans gears. Have seen countless sets shatter and take out layshafts and trans cases

yes gordo, i lightened my black magic steel spur myself, got the weight down to just over 100g (y),
and the weight loss does make a difference with rotating mass,
not easy to lighten cos there hard as feck ,
heres a pic of mine afte lightening, gave it a dusting of black to make it look better :D,

You know what. A bit off topic but how are those hostile plastic gears? I'm thinking about taking my rovan steel one out because its big and heavy for something with less weight. Thinking about that billet spur gear holder aswell.

Shredded 5 of them with my 30.5, they don't work well with jumping and modded motors. Maybe if your putting around with a 23cc they work ? They are also ,99% of the time , made wrong, the hole is off centered and you will have to drill it out.

Agree went through a bunch of them and wasn't moded like I am now. I went to the Tr v2 and metal gears and now I can survive a tank full of bashing.
