Hiya folks
Running my MT today and bought it in to give it a rest, pushed the cut-pff button and as normal the engine stopped, took the filter off and cleaned it then after 5 minutes pulled it to start.....Nothing!.....Pulled it again and again and again.......absolutly nothing, not even a pop or splutter. So went through the normal,plug,cut-off button, fuel etc.Pulled the plug out and the spark was healthy, put another plug in and still nowt.So went home and put another carb on incase I sucked some poop into the mill, pulled it .........NOTHING!!!!.Drained the tank, new fuel, same! Took the mill out set it up in my vice so that it would run as normal and took the cowlings off, unplugged the cut-off,pulled again......guess?.....NIL!
So i was contemplating cleaning it up and using it as a door stop for my workshop:( Please fellow RCer's can you advise me on what I am doing wrong please as I'm no novice but this has got me beat.
Engine...CY 26cc
Carb....standard Walbro
spark plug...NGK
Fuel ratio....25-1 mix
Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers in advance.

Replace the in tank filter and use new fuel lines...Check you carb gasket..you didn't block the small hole.....If blocked your engine will not start....Slawhammer

As one senior member to another, ha...(just noticed, how did that happen?) I do run an in-line filter also.I put another carb on that came off a runner but I will re-seal it to make sure. And what hole did you mean Slaw??

He meant the pulse port for the fuel pump... It is a small hole casted in the head that allows air pressure to pulse and actuate the fuel pump. The small hole on the bottom of the intake port. If it's plugged with a gasket or gasket maker it will not allow the fuel pump to pulse and draw fuel..

I would pull the plug and drip some gas in the plug hole and see if it starts... If it does then you know it's fuel related, if it doesn't then it is compression or spark related.

Trip..

Well this might sound a bit ridiculous but I went to bed at about 1.00AM and couldn't get to sleep thinking about defeat:sleep:So after tossing(Ooo-err!) and turning I thought 'sod it' and got up at 3.00AM,went into my work shop, gas on and so the kettle aswell and started tearing down the motor.Everything was off so I ws down to the crank case and head. The carb was in bits all the nuts ,washers and bolts in magnetic dishes and then I thought about taking the head off to see if there was any major damage to the piston and ring. When i turned the mill upside down roughly a 1/4 of a cup of oil/fuel (black stuff anyway)came out of the bottom of the engine where the crank sits:confused:so i thought 'ok',i'll put it back together and see if that makes any difference as I didn't have a head gasket to replace the one I was about to take off and would have to wait for a replacement. So bolted it back together and set it up in the vice ready for the morning. At 8.00AMish I primed the carb,se H and L needles to factory settings and pulled.....KKKKRRRAAAAKKKKK....DING,DING,DING.....Fired first pull!!!:clap::clap:.
Haven't got a clue what it was that was stopping it going butafter a semi strip down it was back to normal.I'll take it for a spin tommorrow and see if it behaves the way it used to.
Thanks for your help men.
James.

Good to hear the old motor is back to life mate....is it rock oil you use?

I had bad times with that stuff, now run fully synth...40/1
Rock oil as in 'mineral'? Well yes,i ran out of my normal 2 stroke oil so a quick trip down to the chippy a few litre's of cooking oil and I was back up and running!:clown:
