Devil Spring

Man oh man did this test every last bit of patients i have. Rebuilding my 1107 and that damn spring was not very fun. I got it but NOT fun. For the more experienced does anyone have a method they use to make it simple?

Use a pick and don't take the screw all the way out that holds the lever in. Hold the lever up with a very small flat head screws driver then use the pick to push the spring in then hold the assembly down as you tighten so the spring doesn't fly out.

I love doing them when I fit a spiral diaphragm kit to my carbs. Never gets old.
They must have some 3 handed operator at the factory who fits them.

Thanks. I basically did what Rep732 mentioned. i did use my .4mm feeler gauge (same used to gap my coils) to hold down the spring while i closed the needle clamp thing. I wish i could have recorded the whole thing. I had the carb in one of my helping hands and the other hand had a magnifying glass. I do my best to not cuss but i have to admit i let out a few and probably freaked out the neighbors.
