fg vs hpi baja

I am pro FG. HPI is not as half as durable . and without all the after market upgrades, its not so drivable.... Well iam RC addict i have an old FG Racing Truck which i really love.
I have an MCD which after knowing that its made in TURKEY I put it in the attic cuz i am An Armenian and we have ethnic issues ! I own 3 HPI Baja which have almost only 10% of stock HPI parts 90% of them are after market parts thus i have invested over 3000 USD on each. I have 2 CEN Matrix 5 SC which i like them. All my life i wanted to race FG F1 but couldnt come up with any deals with local KARTING circuits in Lebanon so we can drive these scale cars there. But i am still optimistic.

FG are the dogs danglies.I have owned more that 10 of them but decided to get a Baja for bashing where we do.Everytime out thr Hpi's break whereas the FG were virtually bullet proof!
I'll be getting another FG ,probably the 4x4 Leo.

the way I look at it is you need allot of aftermarket gear to get a HPI reliable, chassis braces, suspension mount braces etc the FG needs none of that, just upgrade the engine mounts and the spur and your off.

some sweet rides you have there i will be definitely keeping my fg over a hpi personally i think the mt is the best fg maybe because i have one who knows but since ive had my fg ive never broke anything on it touch wood ive upgraded the pipe to a samba, servos have been changed and a custom body thats it,sweet as candy i know for a fact if i had a hpi baja i would have spend twice as much my mate took his out for the first time and broke his clutch bell within 5mins on run time, know he went from completely stock to fully hooped up with 4 months

whats the difference between the beetle and the mt are you talking about the pro beetle if yeh that body mounting are th all different
 
I have an HPI, but I havn't had all the problems you guys are talking about. I can only think of one thing that broke that wasn't my fault. The stock steering servo gave out on me. I don't think owning an FG would be a good idea for me because I'd have to wait forever on parts to get here, and I have no patience at all.

The biggest difference between the two would be that the FG is 4wd and the Baja is 2wd. That makes the Baja more difficult to drive. That's probablly why most of the FG guys don't like it. I actually consider this to be a good thing. Because it's harder to drive, it will make you a better driver. I love to mess with the guys at the nitro track by letting them drive my Baja. They see me drifting it around the parking lot(the club is scared to let me run on their track because they think I'll tear it up) and think they'll be able to drive it like I do. Then when they get the controller in their hand they spend most of their time doing doughnuts.:lol: It's much easier to drive a 4wd vehicle because the front tires are pulling the car around the corner, 2wd requires much more finnese to run a fast lap. Because of this, the driver's skill is much more important.
 
HPI's do look good but they are delicate compared to the FG's. Cost is also against HPI baja both on initial outlay and spares which is why the clones are taking off big time. FG's are simple in design and easy to maintain so win it for me :D I do like the 5t tho :drool::drool:

Another one from me.Hpi baja's are alot more forgiving whereas with FG's you have to be on the ball alot more.
I found when I bought my 'T' it was a never ending money pit.In my opinion they are more fragile in every aspect but they handle rougher tracks so much better than an FG.
I would also love to get another MCD,they are an FG but 4X4!!!:cup-1::w00t:

My FGMT is my favorite one. It was my 1st and is set up just like I want it. I have a Baja and KM and Marder clone and love them all for each has its own use. Although parts are easy to find for all the HPI are more available around me in my LHS.
 
Just my input,

Although FG has a 4wd version, not all FG's are 4wd. I think it is safe to say that most FG owners have the 2wd versions. I have driven a HPI baja 5t 4wd. And in my opinion, it still could not compare to a FG 2WD. I own a FG leopard 2WD and a HPI baja 5b and 5t 2WD. With that being said, the reason why HPI Bajas are harder to drive is because they lack handling compared to the FG and other European manufactures.
We can go on and on about this topic and compare till the sun comes up. Lets not get away from why we all enjoy this hobby so much: 1/5 scales!!

This video was made at the end of great day. I drove my Baja from 10 am till 7.00pm tank after tank and so did my friends.
 
the body on that thing is THE worst looking thing I've ever seen...looks like a dog squatting to take a poop:lol:
i've looked for worse but as yet this body takes the cake.
kaylee also have a belt drive 4wd that's slightly different setup....and i'm sure rovan will have one soon
HPI missed the boat on this idea and from all accounts the belt systems work real well so one in the eye for HPI:stick:
 
The body are so ugly that I can't find words to describe it :)
The belt setup work REAL WELL on the FG, but that setup is a bit different.
