BTB, guess what????? I got my alloy engine mount from Hobbythek about 10 minutes ago !!!! AND, it is 1mm Larger than the stock one. I guess I'm in the same boat as you !!! LOL. Well here we go, let the mods begin, gotta love it. I just ordered mine last week, I guess they might be WRONG about the other mounts being correct like they responded.

You should email them (him) with the same issue and give him this link like I did. That should not be the case if he actually went out and measured them like he noted? It's disappointing that the issue is that old and still has not been fixed. If its a simple mill off a little more problem it should be easy to change unless the run was completed in a couple hundred parts and they have not sold out of them. I would think they will help you on it and should offer something for the needed modification? That's a bummer.:(

With the little (very little) maching experience I have, I see that the mount is cast and not actually machined. Looks to me like the part is cast in a form, and then they tap out for the screw holes. The one I received anyways. So, I'm guessing that they are all like that, I just don't see them making a new form or die anytime soon. I could be wrong though. I suppose they could always take off that extra 1 mm on a milling machine. Or, perhaps, it's only made to fit the carson vehicles ??? Who knows. That extra little bit of fabricating is always fun. For me anyways. Just my 2 cents.

Draw a line on the bottom of the large mount marking the 1mm amount you want to take off.......get a pair of vise grips and a belt sander.... 1-2mins youll be done

I thought about that, but I just shimmed up the lower mount like BTB did, We'll see what happens. It should work fine. I like to experiment and see what outcome I get. That's just me. I LOVE THIS HOBBY !!! Gives me time away from the wife, HEHE:)

Aluminum motor mounts for the Firehammer

Does the FG motor mounts work on the Firehammer or not? I've been told two different stories. If not does anyone have a line on where to find some?:helpsmilie:

No and yes. It will work but you'll have to replace a few other parts like the gear carrier i think. Or you can do like everyone else here and just order the one from Hobbythek in germany. I think I paid about $45.00 in shipping. But it did work out. Or you can try Large Scale Alloy, or Auction City Australlia. Hope this helps

My Mount fix

The problem with breaking the mount is not the mount, but the fact that location of motor mounting points is to low and not enough support at upper mounting points. Here is my solution in progress without the aluminum mount that takes to long and to much s&h to get to the USA.
I have another support under way for the clutch side and one going to the front of the chassis. Will be needed for my stroker motor race ported, timed and balanced.
If you can't buy it , build it ,
