i have been reading all of the advice on futaba radios my question is will a
3pl take good care of my new 5b ss build or should i pay the extra $ and get the 3pm-x and not use all features,,im only running the one veh.:rock-on:

after thinkin the boogered spot i seen on my new outtta the box 4pks's Rx antennae wire might actually be cut or pinched into, i did a walk range test, got round 250 feet some where thereabouts. reading several places ands seeing a video of a test at 1500 feet, i thot it might be screwed, but i contacted futaba directly and they said the 4pks range is 240 feet.

so it appears its in the ballpark and works ok.

The 3PMX uses the FASST system, which is supposed to be a faster more secure radio signal, but to be honest I doubt anybody can tell the difference.
The 3PL is cheaper, uses half as many transmitter batteries, and extra receivers are only $49, compared to $89 for the FASST receivers.

Do you have any experience with the PL? I was thinking of getting another radio but saw the price difference you noticed. NOt much on their site on the differences. I will ask Futaba too.:D
Thanks for the reply.

Thank you for your recent e-mail.
The biggest difference is that the 3PMX is FASST and the 3PL is FHSS. So
the FASST receivers for the 3PMX will not work with the 3PL and vice-versa.
The 3PMX also has more programming functions in it, like Speed, Expo,
Acceleration, Brake Mix, Program mix, Dual Rate, ATL, Sub-Trim etc...

I had the 3pks, a dx3 and now have a 4pks. i really like the 4pks the main benefit is the big car menu function and the fasst system on the 4pks is double the speed of the 3pk. its a terrific radio and i would not own anything but futaba from here on in

after running 3-4 tanks on the 3PKS I can say the range and feel are worlds better than the spekky, ill be getting more receiviers and have everything running of my 3PKS when the bank account permits.
