what difference on the engines does the gasket thickness makes I see they come in 005, .012, .020 and more, and is there a difference in the copper heavy duty steel which is better? Thanks in advance.

You use the different thickness gaskets to set you squish. So far I have not had any problems with the Zen blue gaskets on any of my 4 CY motors. I do like the the looks of the Steel Reinforced gaskets.

The thinner the gasket, the higher the compression. A thicker gasket decreases compression. Depends on what you want. The higher the compression, the more bottom end you get. The lower the compression, the more top end you get.

[/ame]This video basically explains squish. Skip to about 7:10.

As far as gasket material, I've only used the blue gaskets and haven't had an issue with them.

I use .10 shim stock and it works fine rob64n and i have used the copper and i"am using the steel shim stock with great succes and this gasket sealer pic below

I always thought when you have more compression you get increased torque and RPM?
