Yes I got the message and it worked. The transmission was in 2nd gear the whole time. As soon as I got it running and opened the throttle (it was a lot stronger on take off) I stripped or loosened a drive shaft nuckel (not sure what it's really called but where the set screw is on the drive shaft coupling) and have not had time to find it yet, i have 4 kids and been doing family activities all weekend. I'm thinking it's somewhere right after the brakes and before it splits from front to rear drive shaft. The transmission would just spin, then grab, spin then grab after that first really hard launch. I was on concrete with tarmac busters so it was grabbing good. I do remember when installing the transmission there was something I did not like with a set screw in that area. View attachment 7887
Check all the set screws on the shaft that goes from the back of the transmission to the center shaft gear. I put blue lock rite on all screws going into metal.

Where did you get the sock you have on the pull start house on your buggy?

That is actually a fan in there also that sucks in air and when running the rc you can see all the dirt and grass that's stuck on the filter instead of inside the pull start.

Did you cover up the vent holes on the back under side of the engine as well?
Yes. I am a sheet metal worker and had some nice metal screen laying around so I used some good 2 part epoxy, trimmed the screen up real nice and glued it on in 2 different strips. Was not real easy but worked great. It can be seen if looked for. I bent the screen to the shape of that area first and it made it easier. That was the first thing I wanted done because after the first couple of times of driving it in my front yard it would be completely full of grass thanks to them grabbing knobby 4 tires.

Ok, will do. Having 4 kids some times means having no free time so it might be a few days. I will let you know what I find. Thanks buddy.

I'm curious if I should just change my 2 speed to a belt drive

what do you guys think, was playing today and it tops out way to soon for my liking, the two speed is good for stock but the way it is now there is to much thrust

What gear ratios do you have? If you want more top end, shouldn't you just change the ratios of your 2-speed?

if I can get the gear for my 2 speed I will, if anyone knows where I can get them let me know. it looks like a demon RC 2speed so if the random Chinese 2 speed gears will work then i'll contact an e bay seller for them.

another thing, which gears are the ones replaced? the shifting ones or the end drive gears?

nevermind I found out which gears are swapped. my pinion is a 19 tooth so 37T/19T.

probably should have counted the teeth on the 2 speed gears so I could calculate the over all ratio, but I'm sure its already a known thing to most.

is there a different spur/pinion combo for the center diff? right now the front/rear diffs are 3:1 ratio as well as the center. if someone has made a 2.5:1 center probably looking at a nice increase in top end
