Got me a bone stock 1.0 w/ Hemistorm Penta body. Gonna be another 'Race Ready' thread coming and I'm gonna need your guys help for sure! Got no clue how to begin setting this up. I see a lot of the fast guys are power drifting through these tight turns we're dealing with so I'm thinking I wanna start heavy on the diff oil. It's got 30 or 35wt shock oil all around. Any suggestions I'm all ears!

Yoooooo I saw this in John’s garage before it was done. Lol thought about picking it up myself but instead went the hybrid route. A buddy from the baisley crew just asked me about diff oils yesterday so I asked Scott and he said to run this0AD2369B-8322-4A30-9A66-26E08DEA83D1.png

I personally think he’s crazy for running such high diff weights, but you can’t argue that the man has won every race at p1 lol.

Just got to fiddling with the rig and I need some help on gearing. It's got a 20t engine mount inserts but has a 19T pinion w/ 58t spur. Firstly what should these pinion/spur tooth counts add up to? ie 74 for baja and 64 for FG. Second what gearing should I start with on a stock g320?
 
Ok thanks. Now I'm a little confused on the spur gear. Do we not change that with the different tooth pinions or does it stay 58T?

A 20 should be good with a stock 320 (I’d start with that and then if you want more torque trying going down to a 19.) there’s no tooth count it needs to have the inserts will adjust the gear mesh unlike the Baja where is you get a bigger pinion you need a smaller spur.
 
Thanks Rob I was super confused about that. Just ordered new inserts and now need to find some heavy diff fluid. Looks like rain this weekend so at least I'm not gonna be butt hurt not being able to run it yet. Has a 26cc in there now, I gotta order up some bits for the g320 as it's a long block and need shroud, fan cover outterwears and better carb.
 
No I do not. 20t inserts w/ a 19t pinion. Makes a terrible noise. Just ordered some diff fluid but 400k I couldn't find. Went with 200k/1mil/300k. Fekin $60!

Running a gear mesh like that may have damaged the spur, check. Also, you don't need the inserts if you are good at setting gear mesh, countersunk washers and screws will even prob give more gearing options.

It’s never been ran the guy he bought it from built it for a flip. You can run without the insert using the fonzie washers but I wouldn’t recommend. If they come loose during a race then that’s you with a big L and some stripped gears
 
The inserts are stupid. It's just another way losi came up with to squeeze money out of customers. They are 100% not needed. They don't retain the bolts any better then a washer. I'd personally return them or cancel the order.
Is the body painted or wrapped?

I'll put some consideration into washers as backups once I tare into it and understand the truck a little better.... Body is painted w/ stickers.

I agree that they are not needed, but with the inserts you can lose a couple screws or they can loosen up and the engine won’t move you can’t say that with washers
