he claims to have sent you pics of it, have a look through those pics and see what you can determine off of them. if the pics show a ts reed case motor (easily identified by the carb going to the block at an angle, not the cylinder) then he swapped it after the pics were taken. if it shows the motor thats in it, you will have no issues. he is trying to scare you saying he is in law enforcement (doesn't matter if he is or not, a scam is a scam), it doesn't matter that you got a good deal on it, if its misrepresented its a problem.

for the record, here is a picture of a TS reed case motor

and his crap about feedback isn't true either. you file a claim, you leave bad feedback and he can't just return bad feedback. ebay fixed that retaliation crap long ago...

I am in the middle of getting all the pics lined up and making everything as easy as possible for them to see the difference. He said he sent me pics but he never did and I never asked for more either. He will not have a copy of that e-mail I can guarantee you that, and him being a cop has nothing to do with anything, I couldn't care less about that.

Don'w wait

Just do it, do the claim . He is going to say that you switch parts but auction pics would back you up.

Print of all your documents, emails and pics etc. just in case your pc crashes or something stupid etc.
Hope everything goes well.

Well I went ahead and replaced the exhaust maifold gasket. That is where all that oil came from. and I took the spark plug out while I was at it and had a peak at the inside of the motor. I looks to be in really good shape. I decided to take it out for a spin. This thing really moves, it definitly has some serious power. On pavement it'll leave 2 black marks almost through the hole rpm range. I think I'm just going to swallow my pride and keep it, even though I am totally right.

I have been wanting an FG MT (well I like the redcat better but I wanted quality). This thing is probably worth what I paid. That reed motor would have been nice,a nd it's the reason i bid on this truck over others, but this one has damn good power and runs great.

This is my first time driving an FG MT and I'll give my first drive thoughts about it in my other thread in the FG moster section if you are interested.

Thanks for all the info and advise, I was half a step from doing it but I decided to take it out and see what it had first, and I like it.

ok, do you have an item number, i misread your o.p., so just deleted what i posted. lol
id like to see the ad if possible.

ok yes, open a dispute, do nothing more with the seller, pack the unit back up to ship back (you ll lkely have to eat the return shipping maybe).

it is clearly not what he states in the ad. while it is a TS topend, it is not a 4bolt TS reed Full Mod, which would use the TS 4bolt reed cases) nor it is a Zenoah 4bolt topend, or cases.

cut ties with the seller. deal with him thru Pay pal ONLY. don't accept calls, do not reply, but keep any emails or pms/ims he sends you from here on out.

id leave negative feedback at the very least, teach this seller to check what he's selling before he writes up its got stuff it doesn't have!

id still dispute it. even though its still ok its not what you paid for. if you don't do anything about it the guy gets away with screwing another person over.

I would but I was going to buy one anyways. I bid on this because it was supposed to have an exceptional motor in it. If I dispute it and get my money back I'll end up getting one on ebay for like $600 or so and do most of the upgrades that are already done to this one and I will be back up to $1000 mark soon. So he is just going to luck out on this one I guess.

if you raise a dispute you don't have to get your money back, you can state you going to keep the product, you just wait to raise a dispute to leave negative feedback, which you can also do via ebay.

put in a dispute. Worth a shot getting a partial refund as he was false advertising so no matter how much he thinks he knows the law (& considering hes been studying law for 10 years, he must be pretty poor at it!), because false advertising is breaking the law. end of!

Did you check to see if the oil leakage is from the exhaust gasket or the head gasket? If its the head gasket and its been run like that for some time you are going to need to tear it down to see if there is any internal damage from debris getting in. Seems like a lot of oil. I would suspect its the exhaust gasket.
