My guess is the residual crap inside the pipe is metal prep blast media that never got blown out. The actuall TIG and MIG welding process are very clean.

Fairly sure were not confusing flow with a pressure wave pushing fuel and air back into the combustion chamber. I'm also pretty sure you don't have a clue.
Its pretty cool stuff, have you worked on designing your own pipes? This is something inexpensive to play with in design, that makes a pretty big difference. But you need a way to measure RPM and Torque, to see if your pipe is working the way you thought it would. The tube rolling equipment you could make yourself since the metal is so thin.
