Help with Hub Carrier, and other bits

So I have 2 used Baja's that I bought (and posted about)...
They are both SS kits (orange bits, 26cc, tuned pipe, etc)...

So I was doing some maintenance on one, replacing boots on drive shafts, and I noticed something odd about the hub carrier:

vs the manual I downloaded:

My other Baja has the hubs seen in the manual...
I am guessing I have 2 vintages of SS?? one from 2014 and one a later gen? Is the newer hub really better? I had to shave it down to get the FLM heavy duty drive cup in with hostile boots...

Whats weird also, the "newer" one did not have the heavy duty dog bones... so confused right now...

Those are 5sc hubs I believe. I think they are better than the old multi piece ones. Don't think the 5b ever had HD dog bones, thats only 5sc I think.
