How many cc,s do you think this would put out????

nitro is faster but did you look at the size of the pinion? with the extra power you can size up the pinion. normally you would see about a 12t pinion on a buggy were as it has a 23t on it. what it lacks in rpm's it makes up in power.

i know the fuel will last longer BUT i cant see it being much cheaper then nitro fuel in all honesty (in the UK atleast) fuel is £1.34 per litre (about $2.10 pl)
How much is nitro fuel there?

That's really cool. It looks like it uses the same chassis plates as the XL, just with some new pieces moved around. I'm sure HPI will have a kit with all the pieces to convert over to the gas setup.

I love the LRP spec 3 nitro engine in my XL but I'm definetely going to convert mine over when this comes out, no more expensive fuel and glow plugs!

Cost of fuel to run will be significantly cheaper than nitro, without a doubt. Also, the displacement of this motor alone will help make up for the loss in compression and type of fuel compared with nitro. It's sort of unfair, at this point, to say that it'll be slower. We simply don't know.
a 5ltr container of "hpi power fuel 25%" (only stuff i will use) cost's me £22, so £4.40 a ltr and a 2-stroke mix cost about £1.50ish a ltr, so im super wrong about the achual fuel cost :D (but if you wanted cheap fuel convert a nitro engine to run on diesel:p its easy), but i was thinking more on the terms of "more use = more chance of break everything eles", personaly other then pullstarts/oneway bearings breaking, nitro engines don't achally cause me the trouble, its everything eles, in my eyes there quite reliable and so so simple.

without sounding like an arse, we do know. whats faster a 30cc engine running 2-stroke mix or a 30cc engine on alcoholes/methonols?

youll always get the same results no matter how large or small the scale

(but again i hope im wrong, and im still getting one!!)

You can run higher compression with the alc/meth, but you've got to really richen it up as well. With alc/meth it will run cooler. Fuel cost isn't much more (I buy Methanol here for $5/gallon). So I personally would be all for an alcohol/methanol setup.

I have a supercharged Mustang and I run methanol injection, so I'm no stranger to the stuff. I also run a mix of E85 fuel in that car as well. It allows me to run more timing and a LOT more boost because of its resistance to detonation and cooler combustion temps.

bet you leave 11's everywere with that beast!

back ontopic :)

soz for another downer from me(not about the engine :p ), but i don't like how they have moved the throttle/brake servo outside the chassis on the new rtr xl with petrol engine :S (can see that getting broken/jammed with a bash at the skate park/ woods)

i hope the old style servo setup is still usable with just an engine upgrade on current chassis, any1 found any vids/specs of this engine yet?

As far as mounting area, this engine doesn't appear to be much at all different than a nitro engine. So I don't see a reason why you would have to change anything about the servos. If I read it correctly, they seem to have designed this to be a replacement for the nitro engine.
