I remove the gas cap, then pull off the bottom feed line at the carb and plug, the push the primer bulb to remove the rest of the fuel from the carb and return line then pull the rtn line at the top of the carb then plug the rtn line. Using this method seems to have the least amt of spillage.
 
Excuse this noob reply... but I am looking at getting a walbro 990 racing carb. I know it comes with no choke, so I assume I have to run richer mixture to get it to start easier? Perhaps some 100LL will make it happy?
