Hi all, just thought I would share this. Its the first "Hyper-Creation" !!
I know its nowhere near as complex as a lot of the stuff you see on here, but I'm pleased with the end result !!

I saw Martins Scorpion front chassis brace at Deeside, and after struggling to find one in the UK, decided to make one.

I got some 4mm thick heat treated ally sheet off fleabay for a fiver ! (200mm x 200mm). I cut it to 90mm x 180mm, marked the place where the bend was needed and bent in the vice at work.. (I have no proper vice or bench at home !!:cursing:) (needed to tweak the bend a few times to get the angle exactly right)
Then G-clamped it to the chassis and marked where all the holes needed to be and which bits needed trimming off. Then drilled and hacksawed and countersunk (in the vice at work while the boss wasn't looking !!)
And this is the result ! I'm quite pleased !!!!!
Will be out next weekend to give it a good thrash testing !!!

Hope so mate !!
Done some overtime last week so treated meself to a nice Turtle Racing HD front chassis brace too, so front end should be bombproof now !!! :celebrate::hammer:

Good one Pete.....diy jobs tend to be the most satisfying I think...

I made mine out of 4mm stainless.....blardy hard stuff to bend that....

I made it as the chassis brace + front bumper in one unit.....even drilled a hole in the bumper for my bad doggy leash....

Mine is a bit naked under the lid now.....no longer require all that plastic crap that makes them look messy.......all my design now...

pete that look amazing!!! is that thicker than the original scorpion brace?
looks more stronger, great job you've done there.

Nice job there bud.

I like the way Rossco let his hang over the front to act like a bumper too.

Hey pete do you think 2mm is too thin as i spotted a sheet of alu in the metal skip in work. Might be good for the rear end and i could pos extend to use as a exhaust fender. Hmmm you got me thinkin now. :w00t:

Cheers dudes !! I was quite chuffed with it !
It is 4mm thick which I think is the same as the Scorpion one.

Rossco is right, the DIY jobs are very rewarding. Especially when they work well. Rossco's brace looks awesome. I wanted to do mine in stainless to start with but we didn't have any suitable stuff in work (SO inconsiderate!!!) and stainless is a female dog to work with, so went for the ally instaed.

Would like to make some more to sell, but need to rely on my workshop manager to be out of the workshop long enough to make them !! Haha !

I need to get me a good bench and vice at home. Tho I doubt the missus would agree !!!!

I was going to go for 3mm at first mate but found the scorpion ones are 4mm so decided on that.

Even 2mm would help I reckon and once your holes are drilled you could easy make a 4mm one. But ebay is great for alloy sheet mate. Some very reasonable prices on there!
