notwithstanding the idea stealers comment , yes acrylic if you designed one it could work provided youcan find teh right stuff, you want the laminated acrylic (same used in bulletproof windows, etc). now if you can find a company that deals in bulletproof glass, they may even have scrap pieces that you could get for free seeing as teh sizes you would need are really small.

Acrylic wouldn't last 5 minutes.
