Judging my the anodizing color and color scheme, shocks (clone shock caps look way different, and they don't make a shock brace like that) and the amount of hpi branding on parts such as the air filter I say it's real.

I'm way out of the loop of the pricing for them nowadays but that seems pretty high. I'd say 500 judging by the condition

The SS was a kit, and they also had RtR.
The ss didn't have electronics if I remember correctly

If it was unassembled it'd probably be 900+
Box is a dead give away.

another genuine hpi sign is there a small hole on the bottom of the main chassis that the plastic stub from the battery box fits into,
