Is this is a good deal?

Considering where you live I would have saved more $$ and get a nice buggy like a Horman,Elcon Harm, or Contrast. There are somenice used ones for sale in the UK.

no a long way for you to travel from wales to cornwall:)

K....

Not really.. 300 miles round trip.. Its only a few hours 'work' and I have a company car, so its no biggy. Plus I have friends in Plymouth.. If I can get the seller to hang on for a bit, I will try and combine a visit with on the way through! And my car is a 1.6 diesel (mmmm. sporty :) ) which means thaT I can get 50-60 mph on the motorway.. So it will only cost £25 in fuel, not that much more than a courier!

Obviously I would have preferred one locally, but I figured that if I wanted to get something, I would have to travel unless I was VERY lucky.

50-60mph.....that would take 5 or 6 hours :w00t: I know you meant 50-60mpg really mate just taking the piss

Having done the Baja thing I would recommend getting a new HPI Baja SS kit then you have the experience of putting it together and learning what these things are about even before you have driven it. You also know the care and attention that has been lavished on it rather than getting something that someone said is good to go. Unless you know the person selling it and are aware of what has been done to it over the time can you really trust what is advertised.

:) Oh yes.. MPG!!

Do you know what.. I had a depressing thought today how I missed out on a bit of a deal.. If I had kept his for £450.. I could have then bought something stock, pillaged his for parts (i.e Turtle Shock Towers, Dominator Pipe, various guards, killerbee, etc).. I could then have rebuilt it with stock parts and would have been easily able to sell it for £300 without even batting an eye lid.

I think i really missed out on a chance here.. If only I had thought outside of the box... Doh!

Ahhh.. I didn't think anyone would notice... Right through the sale (before I bid), I was asking for more photos as there were a few things 'niggling' me about the ones which he included.. But he never replied... So I took a punt, not really expecting to win it and did.

I made contact and tried to arrange a visit since it was going to be a week away (due to the Bank Holiday), I asked for more photos to put my mind at rest.. But again I got nothing.

It got to a point where I just had a bad feeling about it, and due to the distances involved I wans't prepared to take a risk.. So we mutually agreed to cancel the transaction..

He can call me a time waster all he wants, but I did give him some advice, based on my Ebay experience and he has simply ignored more me.. He has done a woeful job at marketing it and I felt that if he put in a few mins effort, he could EASILY get more than I paid (£510).. COnsideirng that with fees he would only have got £470, I figured that once he sells it next time he could be thanking me, as he could easily get £100+ more. But clearly he just re-listed it, so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Anyway, I won on another Baja and last night I picked up this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330463614472&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Its brand new.. And has never been run.. It was originally owned/built by Uber RC, so its has a lot of their parts on it and its got an Orange chassis which makes it a little bit unique. Its also got an HPI light controller and lights which was a nice surprise (good job I hadn't ordered the KillerBee V1).

The only thing it hasn't got is the standard SS tuned exhaust.. Instead its only got a standard muffler.. So I have had to fork out for a Dominator, which makes it slightly less of an attractive deal.. But its brand new (its really is) and there isn't a scratch on it.. So I am quite happy.

Was planning to change the radio to 2.4ghz, but I might stick at 27mhz for now, just to see how I get on.. After all, if it works, whats the point?

I am going to add some Socks, Uber Bumpers and a Killerbee and and am then just going to leave it as is.. But first I want to do with 'Quick Release Rollcage Mod' as I already want to look in the radio box and realise that I need to remove lots to get there.

My only decision now is colour.. Since the body shell is unpainted I can do what I want.. Since its got a lot of orange parts, I am thinking black.. The only problem with that idea is that the decals are dark, so they might not stand out.. I can't think of another colour which will compliment so much Orange, but am open to suggestions.

blimey jon you sure like getting them from a great distace from you :lol:

did you pick up in person

K....

:) Bridgewater is hardly far.. Its only 50 miles away.. I would consider this close.

Yes.. I collected it in person and paid cash.. I am concerning myself about how much this is costing me..

My original plan was to sell my MT2, Savage and Rush which were all used but in good condition and buy a Baja.. I wanted something which had been run and had already had lots of upgrades and spares and I planned to put in a few £100 on top of the money that I got from the sell of my Nitros.

But now I have bought somethign which is effectivly new, I have to start from scratch.. I have already spent a small fortune on the following:

Uber Bumpers - £80
Kill Switch - £30
Dominator Exhaust - £140
Ansmann 2.4ghz Radio - £55

And I am sure this is just the start.. When I think that I paid more for the Bumpers and Exhaust than I got for my Savage, it makes me cringe.. My Savage was a beast.. Was almost immaculate and had every essential upgrade done and came with EVERYTHING someone needed to get started.. And I turned that into 2 bits of plastic (bumpers) and an exhaust.. :(

But still... You only live once I guess :)
