Thanks to everyone's help, my XT is running. Here' s what I did today
Per recommendation's, I removed the plug yesterday and let it dry out.
Today I took it outside, flipped it upside down and pulled the pull start prob 30-40 times to get whatever gas in the engine out.
I then flipped it back over, put the plug in and pulled the starter 2 times with the choke on. I then flipped the choke off and pulled 5-6 pulls......Nothing.
Repeated. Took the plug out, turned it upside down and pulled another 20 times to get fuel out of the engine again, dried off the plug which was not very wet, then flipped it over again and put the plug back in.
This time I did not choke it again, I left the choke off. ( horizontal position ) and pulled the starter. For the first time ever it seemed like it wanted to start. 2 more pulls and she was running!
I let it sit and idle for about 15 minutes just to get the engine warmed up, fluid through it and to burn off whatever fuel may have been in the engine from me flooding the crap outta it the last week. Pushed the kill button, and it died. Started again 2 times, with No choke on. 2nd pull the first time, 1st pull the second time.
Now we have it finally started, my only issue is it's a monsoon here today, 1-3 inches of rain. Not going to drive and break in the engine in this weather. Guess i'll have to wait a few days to do this.
QUESTIONS:
1) I also tried while it was running to turn power off on the transmitter to see if the engine would quit. It did Not. Transmitter was off, truck was still running. Am I to assume that the only way to turn the truck off with the transmitter is when it actually gets beyond signal? I was only a couple feet away while trying this.
2) Now that it ran for 15 minutes at idle, and I turned it off, is it recommended to turn the choke level verticle while not in use or does it really matter?
3)Idle issue. Truck idle'd good, a little fast but not bad for the first start. wanted to move just barely by itself, but I had it against a wall just in case so it couldn't go anywhere. After about 10 minutes, I tried adjusting the idle screw, didn't really seem to make a difference, but I may have not turned it down enough. I DID mess with the idle trim control and when it was 0'd out and running good but a little fast, I turned it down to 1. This brought the truck to a nice smooth idle. Someone tell me how much I need to turn on the idle screw on the carb to get it running a good, non fast idle. I assume normally I should have the throttle trim at 0 and just have the idle set on the carb.
Looking at the idle screw. I assume I back it out to bring the idle down? Turning it in is just going to push the tapered head against the armature and give it more gas correct?... so turning it out (counter clockwise) should bring it down
Anyways, Like I said, thank you everyone for all the help and idea's and time answering my questions. I do really appreciate it.
Now I just have to wait a few days for mother nature to stop ruing my day to hopefully start it again and get a chance to break in the engine while driving.
Let me know if I need to do anything before the next trial run. Guess since it's running, now would be a good time to invest the money in that kill switch. Let me know if anyone has one, or I'll just order one this week...
THNAKS GUYS. Looking forward to fun and learning more here
