Thanks to everyone's help, my XT is running. Here' s what I did today

Per recommendation's, I removed the plug yesterday and let it dry out.

Today I took it outside, flipped it upside down and pulled the pull start prob 30-40 times to get whatever gas in the engine out.

I then flipped it back over, put the plug in and pulled the starter 2 times with the choke on. I then flipped the choke off and pulled 5-6 pulls......Nothing. :(

Repeated. Took the plug out, turned it upside down and pulled another 20 times to get fuel out of the engine again, dried off the plug which was not very wet, then flipped it over again and put the plug back in.

This time I did not choke it again, I left the choke off. ( horizontal position ) and pulled the starter. For the first time ever it seemed like it wanted to start. 2 more pulls and she was running!

I let it sit and idle for about 15 minutes just to get the engine warmed up, fluid through it and to burn off whatever fuel may have been in the engine from me flooding the crap outta it the last week. Pushed the kill button, and it died. Started again 2 times, with No choke on. 2nd pull the first time, 1st pull the second time.

Now we have it finally started, my only issue is it's a monsoon here today, 1-3 inches of rain. Not going to drive and break in the engine in this weather. Guess i'll have to wait a few days to do this.

QUESTIONS:

1) I also tried while it was running to turn power off on the transmitter to see if the engine would quit. It did Not. Transmitter was off, truck was still running. Am I to assume that the only way to turn the truck off with the transmitter is when it actually gets beyond signal? I was only a couple feet away while trying this.

2) Now that it ran for 15 minutes at idle, and I turned it off, is it recommended to turn the choke level verticle while not in use or does it really matter?

3)Idle issue. Truck idle'd good, a little fast but not bad for the first start. wanted to move just barely by itself, but I had it against a wall just in case so it couldn't go anywhere. After about 10 minutes, I tried adjusting the idle screw, didn't really seem to make a difference, but I may have not turned it down enough. I DID mess with the idle trim control and when it was 0'd out and running good but a little fast, I turned it down to 1. This brought the truck to a nice smooth idle. Someone tell me how much I need to turn on the idle screw on the carb to get it running a good, non fast idle. I assume normally I should have the throttle trim at 0 and just have the idle set on the carb.

Looking at the idle screw. I assume I back it out to bring the idle down? Turning it in is just going to push the tapered head against the armature and give it more gas correct?... so turning it out (counter clockwise) should bring it down

Anyways, Like I said, thank you everyone for all the help and idea's and time answering my questions. I do really appreciate it. :) Now I just have to wait a few days for mother nature to stop ruing my day to hopefully start it again and get a chance to break in the engine while driving.

Let me know if I need to do anything before the next trial run. Guess since it's running, now would be a good time to invest the money in that kill switch. Let me know if anyone has one, or I'll just order one this week...

THNAKS GUYS. Looking forward to fun and learning more here

Glad to hear you got it running. I had several issues getting mine started and now it starts very time with or with out choke. Highly recommend The kill switch before you run it. Mine already save me, so it's worth it. I put my car on a bucket with the wheels in the air the first few times and tweaked the idle from there. Once I got it set I put the vehicle on the ground and made sure it was right. I have about 5 tanks through mine now and it's a lot of fun.

Enjoy!

Glad i helped.

1) theres something called killerbee kill switch from killer rc. It costs 50$. U can get it from DDM with a buzzer.

The engine wont start without turning on the transmitter. And when the engine is running and you turn off your transmitter, the engine turns off.

This is done by opening the engine from the pull start location and do some small wiring. Plenty of vids on youtube.

2)it doesn't matter. Now you know what to do when the engine is flooded.

You might have to close the choke and redo the steps in the vid i posted yesterday next time you run it.

3) on your radio, make sure your throttle trim is always 5% on the throttle. don't worry, The car wont move bcz of its weight.

After breaking in the engine. Make sure your right carb needle is open 1.25 turns and left needle is opened 1.5

As for the big screw that is found beneath the 2 carb screws, if you close it (clockwise) you will hear the engine revving faster. If you open it (counter clockwise), you will hear the engine slowing its rpms.

Use your common engine sound sense. Make sure it is somewhere in between good revving. Not too much and not too little.

Have fun

Thank you. Noted. Looking forward to some fun soon. Yes the Killer Bee set up I'd what I'm looking at. Still tempting to go pick up that Losi 5ive T though... lol :)

5ive is another story.

Its the biggest truck on the market. Very durable. Top notch product.

you said it had a racing engine. What engine is that? Bcz the stock is 26cc and is a meh.

Needs a pipe out of the box

Comes with the 8hp Zenoah race engine installed with a DDM pipe along with the stock 26cc

:)
